OT: Miami Heat Go NBA-Record 40-for-40 on FTs

I couldn't have even guessed what the NBA record was for most free throws made in an NBA game without a miss, but now I know. The record WAS 39-for-39, but now it's 40-for-40. And the Heat only beat the Thunder by one point, so they needed every last one of them.

LINK.

Duncan Robinson started for the Heat but didn't contribute to the effort - he had no FT attempts. Jimmy Butler was 23-for-23.

Wow! This is incredible! I'll see if I can find a highlight reel to link here. That would be, uh, would be - uh, never mind.

Still quite an incredible feat when many players couldn't hit 40 in a row during practice with no game pressure on them.

I love this.  Spoelstra deserves kudos for enforcing the importance of free throws.  It drives me nuts watching Michigan clang free throws.  They are arguably the easiest shots to master, and also very important to the outcome of games, probably more important in college given that there are less possessions than in an NBA game.  Make your damn free throws!

While a truly incredible accomplishment, and something most teams should focus on heavily, it's also largely why I stopped enjoying watching the NBA, officials taking over the game  I remember when Rip Hamilton led the Pistons in scoring with zero made baskets from the field, once.
