Head scratching move. Defense isn't their problem, so they hire a former DC? All four teams still playing in the playoffs are former offensive coaches. He better nail the OC hire or they'll be in a world of hurt next year.

While I agree that defense isn't the core problem with the Bears, I'm glad that picked a younger coach instead of going with the "young GM, veteran coach" strategy like Ryan Pace with John Fox. That just didn't work. He needs to bring in a good, young offensive mind to mold Fields into a starter and send in the right play calls for the talent on the field. Play calling was all over the place at times with Nagy. Like throwing spaghetti at the wall.

I very much appreciate you referring to a guy three months younger than me as a "younger coach".

Now that I’m in my 60s, “young” covers many more years.

Yeah it seems like defensive coaches have a tougher time relating to the offense and in the NFL you must nail that side of the ball. Cowherd, as annoying as he is, has shown how few D-minded coaches have succeeded lately.

I really thought Harbaugh would be getting more (public) interest from NFL teams. It appears his options have been more limited than I expected them to be (or it's certainly possible there are off-line discussions happening and Harbaugh's wish list isn't lining up with what any team is interested in offering him)

The NFL is a copycat league and most of the successful teams currently are pass first. Harbaugh doesn't fit that mold.

Bears fans here. Kind of at a point in my Bears Fandom where I really need to see something to believe something. I will compare it to the last 20 years of being a Michigan fan. Just kind of numb, until we finally beat Ohio. The roster the bears have is absolutely awful, so I know there is work ahead and don't really expect anything for at least 2-3 years. I'm not sure that Fields is really all that good of a QB, but don't know yet because it is kind of hard to tell when your QB is running for his life on every play. You ever watch like Sunday Night Football or Monday night Football, where they go through the starting lineups and on most teams you hear like Matt Stafford Georgia, or schools that you have actually heard off. Well it will be a good sign when bears players start announcing schools that people have actually heard of instead of Northeast Central State University Canada,
