OT: Kenny Rogers dead at 81
Died of his home of natural causes. For those not familiar, he was a famous singer in both the country and pop genres. I'm not big on most country music, but I did enjoy his particular style (and some of his songs have been pop culture classics for 30+ years). He will be missed.

I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s when Kenny was in his prime. He is one of the all time greats for sure.
I guess he knew when to fold 'em.
(Too soon?)
At this point, I'm willing to take the chance.
Over the past week, I've transitioned over to a state of not giving any fucks. So be it.
In the darkness he broke even
He was also part of USA for Africa, back in 1985. It was epic to see all those great stars singing togther, RIP Mr Kenny Rogers.
He picked a fine time to leave us

i sure hope he did better than "somewhere in the darkness the gambler he broke even" and he's up in heaven now --RIP to the "gambler"
RIP The Gambler. Also, his GEICO commercial is legendary.
Oh man, I just dropped in to see what condition his condition was in.
Grave. I’ll show myself out.
And don’t forget Kenny Rogers Roasters, and Kramer’s obsession with the chicken.
It was the Mac and cheese for me. That stuff was AWESOME
There are already some great puns in this thread - the blog never disappoints!
However, I am sad to hear this - dude had an excellent voice. 'Lady' will forever be one of the great love songs the world has ever heard. And his duets with Dolly Parton, especially 'Islands in the Stream', are some of the better collaborations in music. Their voices were so far apart, yet worked beautifully together.
My mom died just a few weeks ago, but this news would have broken her heart. Thanks, Kenny, for the music you left us. RIP

Bad chicken
R.I.P. I bought a Kenny Rogers Christmas vinyl last year. And people are turning their Christmas lights on. Time for some Christmas songs

A great singer from an era when country music was more than poorly written, watered down pop songs about pickup trucks and beer on a dirt road in the moonlight etc. etc.

RIP Gambler.
Favorite Kenny song is an oldie,
A little more rock than country, Kenny is "burning" in this one!
Thank you for the memory. Wow. I forgot all about "Something's Burning" but oddly enough for a forgotten song it was one of my favorites when it was on the charts. Damn long time ago.
The guy had stones. His self-steem / obnoxiousness used to irritate me but then I realized he was harmless and we should all be so energetic/bold/confident/fearless/intrepid/dauntless/ardent/outgoing/daring.

One of the all-time most distinctive voices.
RIP, Kenny. You truly decorated my life.

I’m saddened by this. I almost shed some tears over it, but it just didn’t seem appropriate. After all, you got to know when to hold ‘em.

"The Gambler" was overplayed back in the day - but it truly is one of the greatest songs ever that can translate into business and life. Whenever remember or look at a potential bad business deal (or an ex-girlfriend) - the line "know when to walk away - and know when to run" can save your ass.
RIP Kenny Rogers.
The Gambler is one of the songs that everyone over a certain age knows by heart. I was a freshman at UofM in 1990-91 and the Gambler was our drunken anthem. Never sure why it stuck, but I assume it was one song we all knew, even when we were a little "foggy."
That dinner I had at Kenny Rogers' Cattleman's Ranch in Orlando back in the 90s was one of the best I've ever had.
