OT: Indiana U's view of Alabama football
Here are two pieces (probably not the only ones of their type) noting all of the Indiana U. connections on the current Alabama football staff. This isn't completely off-topic, as former Wolverine Nick Sheridan is now on the staff.

Building a coaching juggernaut in Bloomington, now all they need are players.

IU’s master plan of eating the elephant one bite at a time is going quite well.

Perhaps IU had a little something working more than a weird Covid year...

Love the subhed on the second article: "It can always get weirder in Bloomington."

Now.. if that IU staff can only deliver IU results in Tuscaloosa. The Bama faithful would… hmmmm.. not be too happy.

Alabama football has become 2019 Indiana South
Can't wait to troll my despairing Bama friend with this headline

Courtney Morgan, Michigan Wolverine and DeBoer’s recruiting GM at Washington, is also going to Alabama. So Alabama is now run by Hoosiers and Michigan Men

I should've remembered that one.

IIRC, I thought I read somewhere that DeBoer is really good at bringing coaches along with him as he moves into positions at new schools. Good for him - get people that know your system into the program to make any transitions go smoother across all units.

How did that work out for Brady Hoke going from SDSU to Michigan?
January 21st, 2024 at 3:45 PM ^
It also made the transition smoother for Hoke. Other head coaching candidates were just more qualified.
I would say it worked terrible for RichRod, as he couldn't bring along his prized defensive coordinator. (Not saying that was the solution long term anyway btw)

That’s odd—when Morgan bailed on his alma mater the explanation was that he was going back to his roots on the west coast. So much for that notion.
January 20th, 2024 at 10:39 PM ^
He said he wanted to prove himself and that he can’t prove himself at Michigan as a recruiting expert but he could at upstart Washington. Now there is nothing left to prove and he earned to upgrade.

They can sign up Lee Corso and Gerry DiNardo too
January 20th, 2024 at 10:43 PM ^
DiNardo is too busy with his resturant in Bloomington.

Crimson and Cream to Crimson Tide. They could bring Tommy Amaker from Harvard and have a Crimson Menage a Trois.

Get Tommy Reese and it will be Crimson and clover

But only for a few days a month...

I'm glad someone got it. I was reluctantly proud of that joke.

Your post is bloody deserving of much moar recognition and appreciation!

Does Tommy Rees still have a job there? I hope so.

Actually Kevim Wilson at Alabama would be pretty lethal.

Have to keep an eye on Sheridan in case we need to call him home...

If only football success was a game of 'six degrees of connection to Alabama'

When Penix was at IU, this was the best they have looked in 50 years
