OT - How are you watching mayweather vs mcgregor?

Submitted by O S Who on

Hey everyone,

just sneaking this in before 11:59 :) Who plans to watch the fight and how are you watching?

$99 is pretty steep, and I am considering VPNing to canada and getting it for cheaper there (according to this site at least)

Anyone else have thoughts on doing so?  Anyone have any VPNs they would suggest?

Note: $12 in canada on that site

UPDATE ----

I ended up getting this VPN for 6.95 (will cancel it tomorrow):

https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/

Then i installed their software and selected to connect to their server in france.  Opened my browner went to this link:

https://www.ufc.tv/events

Got the fight for 29 euros.  I imagine the stream quality will be better and more reliable than streaming illegally, so went this route.  Well find out what language options I have tonight I guess.

When I watch the fight I will first try to NOT be VPN'd in and see if they will let me log into the US website.  At this time I am able to login to the US website too, and the videos are all in english.

Just thought I would let anyone know who might be somewhat interested in watching, but not enough to dish out $99

Note: I also dont care about the fight, but it seems like a fun thing to watch.

I will probably be bar hopping at fight time.  If it is on for no cover, I might watch.  I have no intentions of paying to see this farce.  I drunk napped through the eclipse.  I am fine missing this too.

Friend eats this shit up and even though I don't really care about the fight, he said to come over for free since he was going to buy it no matter what.

He has a bigger screen, will give him $20 (if he'll take it) and BYOB. Expecting about 5 guys and maybe a few wives (if they can stay up that late).

If I wasn't watching for free at a bar, I'd skip it. The only real possibility of entertainment is if McGregor puts himself in position to get knocked out early.

As a Vegas resident, traffic gets pretty bad on big fight weekends (my wife and I once had to wait an hour and a half to get from the southbound I-15 exit ramp at Flamingo to the Cosmopolitan, which is less than a half-mile away, on a UFC weekend). Also, both UFC weekends and Mayweather fights tend to bring out a ton of dirtbags. This being essentially a combined version of both, it doesn't seem promising.

Heading home for our Michigan baby shower, so that should hopefully be productive.

Would people lose their minds if Mayweather lost? I'm not into boxing so I won't watch, but I'll probably read some of the dramatic fallout takes the next day if craziness happens.

Having a beer, bottle share at friends house who's into this shit.  I couldn't care less about these asshats but he's planning on streaming it illegally I guess so, I'll take a peek at times.  Just ready to drink some amazing beers....I'm one of those snobs so suck on that "What are you drinking"-thread haters!!

I'll see all 47 seconds on YouTube a couple days later like most people. It's hard to believe that McGregor isn't the better, tougher, stronger fighter, but I can't imagine he can keep up with Mayweather in a straight boxing match. I'm surprised he'd even agree to it. I don't buy it that he's going to get injured or killed, but I don't see him competing at Mayweather's game.

If you ask me who I'd take in a street fight where anything goes, I'd take McGregor. But this is boxing. Boxing takes away half of what makes him so good in UFC. He's got to beat Mayweather at his own game after only training for the sport for a few months. Mayweather has been doing this his whole life and he happens to be undefeated. I just don't see it happening unless Mayweather looks like he's every bit of 40 tomorrow night.

But if by some miracle McGregor does take Mayweather down, it would go down as one of the biggest upsets in the history of modern sports. Right up there with the Miracle on Ice and Leicester winning the Premier League.

Isn't McGregor making over $75 mil for the fight?  Why wouldn't he do it.  I don't think he has anything to lose.  If he loses, so what, he is not a boxer.  If he wins, he has claim to beating one of the best boxers ever (granted Mayweather is definitely past his prime).

I for one don't see McGregor winning, I think it will be an easy victory for Mayweather.  But I am reluctantly very interested in this fight since anything can happen plus who knows how rusty Mayweather will be..  I'll be watching it, but I definitely won't be paying $99 to see it.

Watching on Amazon Fire TV via UFC Fight Pass. Kids are inviting friends over at $20 per head to help offset cost.

I will probably go to the bar down the block.

I'm a pretty big boxing fan so I watch most fights. I don't see anyway McGreggor can win I figure he will come out swinging for the fences Mayweather will be defense and just jab for 1-3 rounds then I figure Floyd will start to do damage and fight will end around 5th round. Floyd may not have great power, but it is there he just never really needs it, I just figure the constant pounding will take its toll. Everybody who fights Floyd always talks about how they are going to bring the fight to him and be aggressive and they always end up throwing half as many punchess as normal. I think Coto was one of the few who actually was aggressive and he got his ass kicked by trying.

One thing I think would be funny would be if the Mayweather camp makes McGreggor shave before the fight which is within their rights if they think it can give him some padding. Doesn't happen often but I have seen it happen, and the last thing you want before a fight is to irritate your skin. I could see Floyd do this just to annoy Connor.

Anyone remember back when the cable company box had buttons for every channel? The pay channels were scrambled, but you could sort-of see something of the picture. 12-year-old me discovered you could "unscramble" any channel by pressing the buttons to the right and to the left of the pay channel button simultaneously. Maybe my life would have turned out differently without that discovery. Oh, well.

I remember watching this fight expecting the usual early first round knock out. My oldest is taking the SAT today and as a reward for the hard prep work we are getting the fight on the Xbox streamed to the movie room. McGregor is 28 and a hard puncher and Mayweather is 40 and hasn't fought in two years. Friends coming over so it is for fun like stretchy pants
