So, how bout them Bears?

How did two teams combine for 269 points in a 32 minute game? That is amazing. A combined 8.4 points per minute in a game with no shot clock.

to how Defense is really stressed in today's youth basketball leagues

92 points is obviously impressive, but Chino Hills regularly leaves 1 man back for quick cherry-picked baskets - and I hate it.

How is that a thing?!? No wonder playing defense is a non-existent idea for some of these kids when they move to the next level...

That's what Charles Barkley was ranting about this morning. He said Ball rarely crossed the half court line.

Watched the video. This exact thing happened. The kid has skills, but he never went back on D and showed no interest in playing D. Apparently it's a thing for them. Because no one seemed to care. In my days, coach would have ripped anyones ass that did that. I was sick watching it to be honest.

In my day if you cherry picked like that more than once someone would have cleaned you out the next time you went up for a lay-in.

High school sophomore aka future UCLA player and brother of future top 3 NBA pick Lonzo Ball.

After reading the thread title my thoughts were ...
OK, I suppose I'm glad that he's getting some positive attention for this. I'm sure it's helping his overall self-confidence and self-esteem.
But, IMHO, it's not all *that* noteworthy. Sheesh, I've bowled many games of 92 (and better!!) over the years.

Interesting comments here...
"Los Osos Coach Dave Smith called it “a joke.” He said Chino Hills players were fouling on purpose trying to prevent Los Osos from running out the clock and thus deny Ball more points."

His dad is the coach and clearly trying to put colleges on notice about his son.

If any high school coach watched this tape, they would realize what a joke this was. I thought it was awesome until I saw the recap online this morning of him running lay up drills. This 92 point "performance" was aided by his teammates continuously giving him the ball and fouling the opposing team for more possessions. This isn't like Kobe's 80 point game, where one guy is just that dominate. The opposing coach is understandbly butthurt, but all he had to do was put one guy back on defense and then have someone foul him hard. That would have put an end to this real quick.

Why is the internet so bad at spelling dominant, it doesnt even sound like dominate.

I am legitimately confused. I understand there/their/they're and your/you're but dominant/domiate aren't homonyms!

you just spelled that incorrectly trying to be snarky. Mistakes happen man, I'm sure none of you ever have spelling or grammatical errors in any emails, documents or posts you make. Must be tough never making mistakes.
February 10th, 2017 at 6:55 PM ^
Not snarky, for the 2nd time i don't get it, you can't typo dominant to dominate, 'te' arent near 'nt' and 'nate' does not sound like 'nant.' Do people walk around actually saying 'he is dominate?' I've never heard anyone say that. Do people really think you pronounce 'dominate' 'dominant?' That makes no damn sense. Maybe the OP is making fun of the idiots that do that, but is till don't understand the idiots who do that, the genesis of that mistake make no sense to me yet I see it more and more.

I'm not sure I could get to 92 points shooting around by myself in my back yard. That sounds exhausting.

I watched about 3 minutes of the game. Pretty crappy basketball overall. Every shot was wide open. 92 points is a lot obviously but not as impressive as it sounds after watching the game.

Of couse, the internet hyped it as the greatest thing ever but this was one of the most disappointing things I've seen in a while.
Watch the highlights on Deadspin. They were inbounding the ball from baseline to baseline and cherry picking the entire game. Neither team even pretended to play defense.
