My son is a Corporal and stationed at Pendleton.  He is finishing his package to re-up for four more.  Happy Birthday and my respect and love to current and former Marines!

Happy Birthday indeed.

By coincidence I just finished listening to a podcast with a 99 year old Veteran of Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, and Tinian. Epic.

Happy Birthday Marines - my brothers and sisters from the Naval Service.

Jocko is great. I love his "Good" quote....

Oh, the mission got canceled? Good… We can focus on another one.
Didn’t get the new high-speed gear we wanted? Good… We can keep it simple.
Didn’t get promoted? Good… More time to get better.
Didn’t get funded? Good… We own more of the company.
Didn’t get the job you wanted? Good… Go out, gain more experience, and build a better resume.
Got injured? Good… Needed a break from training.
Got tapped out? Good… It’s better to tap out in training than tap out on the street.
Got beat? Good… We learned.
Unexpected problems? Good… We have to figure out a solutions

Yes! Protect the constitution and foreign invaders. Most handout seekers would be shocked to know the first objective of our government is national security. What a farse for reasons you assess. Dont watch media and talk to your neighbors and you got it ...

Thought I would add this anecdote.  I now live in a retirement community.  Today we few marines, some spouses and some widows met for a Marine Corps Birthday brunch. After a great meal and lots of stories we cut the traditional cake.  The frosting on top of the cake consisted of the eagle, globe, and anchor and it was inscribed, “244 years VALOR.  The oldest and youngest marine present cut the cake with a marine officer’s sword.  The oldest is. 95 and a WW11 veteran of campaigns in the  Pacific.  The youngest is 81 a carrier pilot in the ‘60s.

Semper Fi.  Got to spend the birthday at the Steelers game where I ran into another retired Marine that I was stationed with years ago.  Haven't seen him in 10 plus years and we were sitting in the Same section at the game.

Just got back to the hotel after a few drinks with him at the Rivers casino.

I was in Okinawa in 1976, for the birthday. I had a jeep and trailer and picked up trailer after trailer of ice and beer. Most I have ever seen. Loaded with a fork lift. Only time they didn't care I was driving a Marine Corp jeep full of booze. To all my Bro's, Chesty Puller never quit. Happy Birthday.
