OT: Gregg Marshall out at Wichita State
An investigation by the school into physical and verbal abuse included choking an assistant coach, attempting to punch a student during a road rage incident, and obvious racial animus towards a Native American player.
I remember his name was floated around this site as a potential Beilein replacement, with some wondering what the skeleton in his closet must be. Clearly, it was not a pleasant one, and all the better we ended up with Coach Howard!

I recall that he had a problematic wife too.
Build a really solid program at Wichita St but looks like at a high cost.
What a prick.

haaa, "problematic wife"... sounds like my ex.
November 11th, 2020 at 1:49 AM ^
She didn't give me any problems...
JK bro.

"JK bro."
Dude, if you're gonna be sarcastic/ballsy enough to go with the mom/wife/sister lines, then be man enough to stick with it!
November 11th, 2020 at 10:31 AM ^
That's what your mom said!
November 10th, 2020 at 11:37 PM ^
Can he coach a D line?!
November 11th, 2020 at 12:18 AM ^
Or secondary/ corners!?
November 11th, 2020 at 7:27 AM ^
No, but he does have a lot of experience with Offensive Lines
November 11th, 2020 at 7:55 AM ^
Now this is top notch, right here! +1 to you...
November 11th, 2020 at 9:57 AM ^
that's some fine, fine work, right there.

2013 final four mates. After they lost to Louisville we tried to buy tickets from the Shocker fans leaving the lower bowl. We were not successful.

Cool story bro.

Saw someone post a tweet over on the UMHoops board claiming that Wichita State is hoping to replace him with Thad Matta and that they want him to take over immediately.
November 11th, 2020 at 7:57 AM ^
Well, if the HC is out immediately, they need someone as quick as they can get. But Thad Matta? Talk about recycling coaches...
November 11th, 2020 at 8:56 AM ^
Say what you will about OSU, but Thad Matta, if he's healthy, is a fantastic basketball coach.
Dude has an excellent W/L record and has made some seriously deep runs. Very comparable career to Beilein- do not think he had any scandals while running the program, at least as far as I remember (could be wrong).
November 11th, 2020 at 8:49 AM ^
It was a tweet from Seth Davis, not a rando. We’ll see if he’s right.
November 11th, 2020 at 7:32 AM ^
Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Good riddance.
November 11th, 2020 at 8:31 AM ^
Wowza. I remember a lot of people on this board, including myself, were pining to get him to come here after Beilein left for Cleveland. I don’t think there was ever any serious mutual interest, but if there was, thankfully we avoided that train wreck.
that guy built one hell of a program down in Wichita, regardless of what you think of him personally. Whoever comes in next has a very tall task in keeping that momentum moving.

This is the "word on the street" out here in the great waste-land that is Kansas. But, here, the fat lady has not yet sung and unless and until she does these folks remain who they are-a lot of folks are coming to his defense. The Koch's hold the purse-strings, and everything else, here-this is not a political statement, this is fact.
November 11th, 2020 at 9:53 AM ^
Aren't we down to one Koch now? The other bro kicked the bucket.
November 11th, 2020 at 2:10 PM ^
Yes. Still one too many and I'm sure they have a gaggle of sycophants in waiting.
November 11th, 2020 at 9:52 AM ^
Warde made a great hire in Juwan and I'm confident his pick to replace Jimmah will be a good one, as well.
November 11th, 2020 at 10:05 AM ^
pat forde's twitter avatar used to be a shot of him with marshall's wife screaming over his shoulder. the look on his face is delightful.
i don't remember him being floated as a beilein replacement; if he was, i highly doubt that he was ever seriously considered.
having said all that - if wichita state wanted a great coach to clean up the program? there's an ex-cavs coach that's wide open right now.
November 11th, 2020 at 10:20 AM ^
She looks problematic.
November 11th, 2020 at 10:26 AM ^
Good, fuck that guy. The amount of people in and around WSU trying to cover for him was disgusting, but that just goes to show what people will tolerate if a coach brings success to a program
November 11th, 2020 at 11:26 AM ^
Liberty will hire him.
November 11th, 2020 at 2:03 PM ^
How’s Ted Lasso doing? He almost made it as a soccer coach, so maybe he could do another crossover?
November 12th, 2020 at 8:13 AM ^
About time. Fuck that guy.
