OT: Former WBB Coach Kevin Borseth retiring after 37 years.
Former WBB coach Kevin Borseth - who brought the program from the crater of the Cheryl Burnett years - has retired. He actually voluntarily left Ann Arbor after five good seasons to return to his roots of UW-Green Bay, which allowed us to hire KBA.
He retires with 821 wins, 15 Horizon League championships, 13 NCAA berths, and this classic meltdown:
...which i share for the comedic value, but also because he, in some ways, really lit the fire that the WBB program needed, and which continues to burn.
ya did good, kevin.
That video is awesome! Righteous anger, and a doggone thrown in for good measure. I just boxed out my coworker from the coffee machine. After watching that video, I couldn't help it.
Happy retirement, coach. He's on that short list of coaches – along with Mike Gundy ("I'm a man! I'm 40!") – who is far better known for one meltdown than for anything they did on the field or court.
Also featuring: Jim Mora, Dennis Green, Herm Edwards, and PJ Carlesimo (best known for a meltdown, if not his).
John L? Might be my favorite.
There's a Hal McRae meltdown that should never be forgotten.
Hal McRae FTW!
I've never seen that before. Epic. It sounds like it all sounded because somebody asked him about not using George Brett as a pinch-hitter with the bases loaded. Sounds like it didn't work out the way he wanted.
I literally could not care less.
Weird flex but okay.
come on! he shares the final syllable of his surname with the first name of this site's editor!!! what's not to love!??!
So if they got married, his name would be Seth Borseth?
Wouldn't the coach be Kevin Fisher? Or would they would hyphenate and be Borseth-Fishers?
Wouldn't Seth Borseth be Seth's mom?
But cared enough to check out the thread and comment....
fair enough.
Excellent rant! I somehow missed that when it happened, thanks for posting.
Best entrance to a press conference, all-time.
God, that's great. And how many reporters could there have been covering a Michigan women's basketball game? Two? Three?
I don't think this is off topic but I don't really care and I think I am posting on the thread only because the alternative is to go back to work.
As I recall, may have also been one who didn’t care for working for Dave Brandon, although the KBA hire seemed to be one of the few DB success stories.
"AND WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANNA KNOW?!"
