Also of note,  former Michigan LB Coach Jay Hopson (08-09@UM) is the head coach for Alcorn State in the HBC National Championship/Celebration Bowl that started at noon.  He is the first white head coach in the SWAC that was founded in the 1920's.

He should be retired now but having 40+ bowl games gives 5-7 teams their participation ribbon. Guess what? Another bowl is coming next year in Austin making it 42.

and whatever your disappointments about his time in ann arbor, you might want to show some grace to a guy who has had a great career that includes a couple of super bowl rings.

So asking why it's okay to offer scholarships to black students only is racist? This is the sad world we live in. The only way to make things fair is to give black people opportunities that we don't give white people. We are so good at this equality thing! I apologize for raising a very good point.

We had all white schools that only offered scholarships to white students from the mid 1600s to the mid 1900s. And you're mad because there are now a handful of schools that try to raise the stakes of a minority group that's been disenfranchised for half a millenium? Makes sense to me!

He's a role model for the average and the failures among us. It's good for them to learn that no matter how many times you've gotten fired, there's always another sucker willing to give you another shot...just gotta keep tryin'.

I'm betting that Greg Robinson made it a lot further in life than you have, Samir.

edit: I see XtraMelanin had that well covered. I'm letting my comment stand. You should feel bad. Re-evaluate your own accomplishments in life. The guy made it nearly to the very pinnacle of his profession, and made a lot of money along the way. I wish I were Greg Robinson, and could fail so spectacularly.

The dude is 64 and has had a reasonably good run, not counting his time in AA. Of course, when I'm 64, I can't imagine being financially able to retire.

Nonetheless, good for him. Time for the young guns to take over.

DC for 2 Super Bowl championship teams.  '98 Broncos D was unbelievable in the post-season.  This moment was also unbelievable.

Enjoy your relaxing days ahead, Mr. Robinson.  May I recommend a retirement gift?

Good for GERG, he has a specific set of skills which he has developed over a  long career.

Jay Hopson is best known around these parts for having a set of deep, melodious Southernesque pipes...and a hot wife.
