bad. This makes me sad though--I really liked CF Final, great way to catch up with other games, even  though I didn't like May, and these new guys seem really lower echelon to me. I've watched Kannell, and he's terrible at picking games and not really that interesting in commentary either. And now with my favorite guy, Chris Fowler, leaving my favorite CF show, Gameday, I'm sad doubly so.

Mark May and Lou Holtz can wear thin quickly, but I liked them in the context of Game Day Final at 1:00 in the morning when you've watched all the games, listened to all the analysis, and now you just want to be entertained.

They weren't hard-core analysts and they did not try to be.

The last thing I need is Joey Galloway yammering in my ear with some pseudo-analysis at 1:00 in the morning.

I don't like this move at all.   I'm not staying up for that.  I'll just watch Sorts Center in the morining.

He's literally THE worst they have on ESPN. You can talk about Beth whatever her name is, or Lou Holtz, or Mark May...hell, even Stephen A and Skip Bayless, at least those two are paid actors.

Joey Galloway SPEWS nonsense and claims it's fact, he's rude about it, he's flat out awful in every aspect. His predictions are always wrong and he always gets defensive when he's called out on it...Kanell is going to rip his head off, because he has no patience for stupidity.

This is terrible.

I think it was the Galloway/Mowins combo last year that Michigan got a few times, it was brutal. Combined with how we were playing, it made last year one of the first years I have actually gotten ahead on my lawn care because I didn't watch every minute of every game.

with all the softball coverage this weekend, I think I OD'd on Beth Mowins. I've never heard a play-by-play announcer be so excited by a defense getting the lead runner out before. She was working in a 3 woman booth, yet she talked the entire time.

Did you hear Michigan makes make believe pizza everytime they get a hit or round the bases?

B/c apparantly Beth Fucking Mowins thinks we don't the first 500 times she told us.

Galloway is terrible. Danny Kannel is weak sauce, as well. Hey, Glen Mason is available.

Galloway is a poor color commentator.  Kanell has shown the ability to be an obnoxious troll on the same level as Mark May (although an ANTI-SEC troll, so maybe that's what ESPN is going for here).

Virk is real good (he's a frequent sub on Mike & Mike), a fine replacement for Rece Davis.

On a tangent --- College Football Final isn't as relevant as it was 10 years ago.  It's typically on at 2:30 AM ET anymore anyway (after some late Pac-12 or Mountain West game, then still after SportsCenter), and most fans have seen the highlights 5 times already anyway over the course of the day.

Up until this last year, OSU got very little love from ESPN compared to SEC teams, for obvious reasons. Even Herbstreit seems to overcompensate to not seem biased. Even with a sudden turn towards OSU favor, I still don't think there's any decent analysis available.

Given that Lou Holtz and Mark May are conjoined twins, it's not surprising they had to cut May too.  From a technical perspective, it would be difficult to keep Holtz off camera.

Don't worry, though.  ESPN will assemble another team fully capable of simultaneously felating Notre Dame and the entire SEC (except poor, poor Vandy).

Aside from being a pretty poor color commentator, I remember Galloway said during the App State game that he still is faster than Denard. And here I thought it would be impossible for them to replace Mark May and not improve.

I do wonder what this means for Mark May.

Coming from someone who likes Galloway, you're not wrong.  I never thought he was that strong and was working the noon games for a reason.

Having said that, it is possible that he was being dragged down a little by Mowins.  Good God, she's terrible.   And ESPN loves giving us those 2 when we have a noon game.

I'm glad OSU is getting away from a lot of noon kicks.  Won't have to hear her very much.

And being homerish aside, he might be able to beat Denard.  From what I've heard he's kept up with that, kind of like a 40 year old Darrell Green being the NFL's fastest man.

Although kind of douche-y to bring up in a broadcast.  Caveat - Unless he was asked, then I don't see a problem.

Crap, I lost my bet -- I took the over on "500 comments before someone claimed to like Galloway."  As for whether Mowins dragged him down, anyone who was unlucky enough to see Galloway's "expert" commentary during ESPN's endless run-up to the CoFoPo selection process knows that it's impossible to drag Galloway down any further -- he had absolutely nothing to contribute.

I liked the show.  Not for the asshattery, that was just silly.

But, I loved the football highlights with capable and ridiculous commentary in equal amounts.

Regardless of how much your vomiting at my opinion right now, I'd rather listen to Lou Holtz for the rest of my life morning, noon and night than Galloway for the first half.

That's a nightmare scenario right there. Talk about a bunch of no-names.

Pick the one guy worse than May (Galloway). He's terrible.
Mowins, May, and Galloway. The ESPN trifecta of awful. I'm surprised they didn't choose those three.

If there's anyone worse than Mark May, it's Joey Galloway. Maybe he will be better in studio as opposed to doing color commentary.

I love the addition of Danny Kanell. There needs to be more anti-SEC guys on ESPN.
