Totally OT here, but because it happend in Michigan, I wanted to share it. Fortunately the dog will make a full recovery.

I'd really love to meet this asshole in a secluded alley somewhere. It's your dog, yes. You have the right to put it down if you feel that's best. But you take it to a god damned vet and do it humanely, asshole! You couldn't even find a damned shotgun to do it properly? An arrow?

Sooooo angry.

He could get shot in the head with a sharpened wooden dildo after the "tip" had been dipped into a bath of Necrotizing Fasciitis and cureless Koala Chlamydia strains. The tip would have a stop built in so that it would not kill him immediately, but only be painful and allow an open wound for the bacteria to fester and take over his brain which would swell and burst like a puss pocket after 3 agonizing days in the hospital where the doctors looked at eachother dumbfounded and helpless and his family watched.

BUT . . . that would be a bit extreme.  A fine and maybe some jail time after being shot int he head with the same arrow would suffice in my opinion.

I can't even imagine shooting my dog with anything. Waffles (yes my dags name is Waffles) is my best friend. Love that guy more than I love most of the people in my life.

Think of the biggest asshole you've ever met in your life.  Just the hugest fucking asshole there could be.  The crazy thing is, somewhere there is a dog that loves that person.  I wish I could be like that -- I'd be a better man.

If you're going to take your dog to the vet to get euthenised, take your dog to the shelter instead.  At least it has a little bit of a fucking chance, as slim as that may be.  Better yet, don't a dog in the first place if you ever think a convinence euthinasia would ever be a possibility.

Humane euthanasia can be an excellent choice for any pets suffering from disease that is terminal/ can't be managed/ significantly impairs a pet's quality of life.  Convenience is not a justifiable reason.

In this particular case, re-homing the dog may have been difficult due to dog-aggression, but she still would have had a better chance than if she had been aggressive toward people.

I mean, yes, you are correct in that the owner has the legal right to kill their pet should they want to.  But damnit, that's so wrong.  Convinence euthinasia by veterinarian are just as bad morally as shooting it in the head with a crossbow.

and you for not complaining about your foster pets. We do rescue, and I've fostered a few times. For me though, they call me a "foster failure" because I have kept the fosters on a couple of occassions. Poor animals are subjected to human bullshit.. The dog on one side of me right now was set to be PTS in LA shelter because he is a pit that "wasn't mean enough" for his owner--so they took him in to a high kill shelter, where he was rescued by a group. The dog on the other side of me right now is a pure bread Ridgeback who was a "stray" who just had happened to give birth to puppies (puppies not around), and had zero muscle tone and a indentation around her neck from being tied up..so, a mom to puppy mill breeders (we think) who dumped her. My third dog is just nutty...but also a rescue. Three is my max. The RR was a "foster" that we got 4 years ago.

Awesome. I love all dogs...and cats for that matter. But Pits are the most misrepresented dogs there are... And so many killed everyday due to overcrowded shelters, as well as just being misunderstood. I've also been involved in pulling breed specific dogs out of shelters (Rhodesian Ridgebacks), and there have been instances where the shelter deems the dogs aggressive, because the dogs are freaked out in that environment. Their fear causes them to act defensive. So, there are a lot of misunderstood dogs, because people are stupid. But no way are those people as evil as the guy who put an arrow in a dog's head. I just can't fathom the moment that he thought that would be a good solution to whatever his issue with that poor dog was.
