This kid is destined to be something special, off the field. This makes me proud of the university. I hope he comes back to UM in some capacity to help elevate our university, but if he never does it’ll probably be because he’s doing something bigger yet. Congrats Noah

Should be interesting to see if he'll get to apply his engineering degree while he's in the Corps, which I believe is at least a 4-year commitment. Military engineering tends to be civil/construction engineering. My guess is Noah wants to go to space and the first qualification he's putting on his resume is Marine officer (believe many astronauts come from military backgrounds).

Congratulations Lt. Furbush.  What you lose in income now will more than be paid back in dividends later. Welcome to the brotherhood of service to country, as fine a profession as ever there was. Thank you!!

Damn!

"In a video from Saturday's ceremony, published by the Marine Corps, Furbush said each day during the 10-week training reminded him of the week during his final year at Michigan in which he had to write a 50-page proposal for his master's program while simultaneously preparing for a football game."

Once pilot training was ruled out, I guess he didn't want a desk job at Boeing as an engineer.

You don't see this often in today's young men, but glad he is on our side and god's speed.

Awesome story.

The best line of which is - "Furbush will have a say in what he wants to do, but ultimately it will be decided for him based on his aptitude".

Ha.  With a masters in Space Engineering I'd say his aptitude measure will be - through the stratosphere.
