God bless.
And thanks, OP, for your service.

Looks like we have ourselves an early candidate for veteran of the week in the year 2085
November 20th, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
Bummer. I might miss that game.
November 20th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
I'll be 124 and plan on being there.
November 20th, 2019 at 4:25 PM ^
Is that a noon start?
November 20th, 2019 at 2:09 PM ^
A very impressive man
November 20th, 2019 at 2:18 PM ^
That literally sounds like the resume of someone who is only "entering the Marines" as a cover for his/her real work with Special Forces/JSOC/CIA Operations, etc.
I have no inside information here, but... ;-)
Congrats, sir!

Once he gets through TBS, earns the 0302 MOS, then spend his 1st tour at his battalion then he can go MARSOC.

Our Son is working towards that exact thing. Semper Fi young man.
November 20th, 2019 at 1:49 PM ^
Very inspiring...
Obvious that he likes a challenge, that ain't easy to do!

This kid is destined to be something special, off the field. This makes me proud of the university. I hope he comes back to UM in some capacity to help elevate our university, but if he never does it’ll probably be because he’s doing something bigger yet. Congrats Noah
November 20th, 2019 at 2:15 PM ^
Should be interesting to see if he'll get to apply his engineering degree while he's in the Corps, which I believe is at least a 4-year commitment. Military engineering tends to be civil/construction engineering. My guess is Noah wants to go to space and the first qualification he's putting on his resume is Marine officer (believe many astronauts come from military backgrounds).
November 24th, 2019 at 1:07 PM ^
I feel like they almost have to come from the military
November 20th, 2019 at 2:18 PM ^
Good for you, Lt. Thanks.
November 20th, 2019 at 2:26 PM ^
Congratulations Lt. Furbush. What you lose in income now will more than be paid back in dividends later. Welcome to the brotherhood of service to country, as fine a profession as ever there was. Thank you!!
November 20th, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
Don't schedule Space Force please.
November 20th, 2019 at 2:57 PM ^
Damn!
"In a video from Saturday's ceremony, published by the Marine Corps, Furbush said each day during the 10-week training reminded him of the week during his final year at Michigan in which he had to write a 50-page proposal for his master's program while simultaneously preparing for a football game."

Thanks for sharing this. BTW, though...this isn't 'OT'. Perfectly on topic.
November 20th, 2019 at 3:42 PM ^
Congrats, A great career choice!
November 20th, 2019 at 3:49 PM ^
Once pilot training was ruled out, I guess he didn't want a desk job at Boeing as an engineer.
You don't see this often in today's young men, but glad he is on our side and god's speed.
November 20th, 2019 at 8:52 PM ^
Yeah sounds like that's about the only thing he doesn't have going for him. Doods that big and badass don't get to be fighter pilots unfortunately.
November 20th, 2019 at 4:51 PM ^
Came to play football AND school. Was awesome in both and now on to greater things.
Well done.

Semper Fi, Boot!!!
Congrats.
November 20th, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
His comrades are going to have a field day selecting his call sign.

Semper Fi, Devil Dog!
There have been a few books written lately by former Marine officers showing what their world is like. Here is one that I recommend for anyone who might like to take a closer look, covering a deployment in Iraq.

From a Korean War era USMC Sgt. Congratulations, sir.
November 20th, 2019 at 8:26 PM ^
Awesome story.
The best line of which is - "Furbush will have a say in what he wants to do, but ultimately it will be decided for him based on his aptitude".
Ha. With a masters in Space Engineering I'd say his aptitude measure will be - through the stratosphere.
November 20th, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
With his athletic ability and frame he could be an elite operator but I guess pilot works too. I guess he sacrificed the golden locks.
