OT: CONCACAF - USA vs. Mexico Match Thread

After watching Eli Brooks' last game, I needed something to turn to. Who wins on the pitch tonight? If USMNT can pull it off, it'll ease my sting until I can watch Naz and the Lady Wolverines later this weekend.

Get that forward a pair of trunks.  Worst dive I've ever seen.

USA plainly parking the bus now to play for the draw.  Shame, really.  especially since Mexico is still finding space.

Obviously, you're happy to come away with a draw there. Neither team seemed able to finish, but the US needs to find something more up front. When Pepi came off in the second half, I wasn't even sure he was in the game in the first place. I'm glad the referee didn't fall for the obvious penalty simulating. Maybe that's the bonus for playing without a crowd.

I don't feel good about their chances of doing anything in Qatar, but at least they look likely to get there.

CONCACAF seems down . . which is saying something. Canada is going to qualify for only the 2nd time ever and they will probably win the group. Mexico looks like the parts are better than the whole type of team. They and Costa Rica haven't looked consistent in at least 2 years. Costa Rica has at least resurrected itself the last few months. Panama is Panama--a team that seems to have maxed out their potential as a team. The Americans might have the most upside, but my guess is similar to yours . . 2026 will be the cycle for this group of players (who do look more talented than any group we've had before).

Everyone else in CONCACAF is bad.

Mostly agree, with the important--for me--additional thought that they are going to be fun to watch in Qatar; I relate to this team, and believe that we are starting to put it together.

Mexico was pretty ineffectual last night. Again. Quite interesting. First time they have ever gone four games without beating us.

It terms of Qatar prospects, I'm interested to see if we can have a mostly full squad. Reyna, Pulisic, McKennie and Adams haven't played a single minute together during qualifying (I don't think). Clearly we need someone to score goals, but this team will be dangerous against almost anyone (if inconsistent) as long as they are healthy.
