He is on top of his weird game tonight. So many weird tangents. "Never forget that Arizona was scarcely populated before the end of WWII, when serious advances in refrigeration and air conditioning made the region viable for living."

Walton is the man. I'll never forget his call during a game where Shaq did a spin move and drove the lane to throw it down and Walton went fucking nuts. "what speeeeed, what agilityyyyyy, what athleticism, throw it down shaquille". Ever since then I have been hooked.

I had very little interest in watching the game but couldn't get enough of him tonight.  Man he was beyond good.  No idea what it was but something set him off tonight.

Fucking asshole was wrong about the Fab Five too.  I find it amazing that, in America, you can be good at something, thirty years ago, and then have some type of goddamned fucking authority to tell kids how to play a game that any idiot can figure out, well after you were actually relevant.

Agree about your commentary on media. Many ass bags are handed the mic too often. Even Millen was allowed near the game of football after demonstrating his skills ended inside the lines. But it sounds like you could use a tender but firm bear hug. Take it easy in SF and grab a nice brunch in the late morning on Chestnut St and go for a hike in Muirwoods.

Any idiot can figure out? Alright, let's fire our entire staff tomorrow and pick up some young up and comers. I will allow them to have coached before, but not at the collegiate level. Let's just let them figure it out

I am going to try that out in the middle of a meeting this weekend, what he said at the end. All I need a brief, awkward pause and then I will get up and ask, "Have you ever been to a volcano?" I am pretty sure this would get me out of a fair number of future meetings....or get me stress leave. Either way, Bill Walton has inspired me now.

He is the perfect partner for Walton. Keeps some semblance of order and attention on the game while standing aside while Walton goes on a riff.

I find him unlistenable.  Bill is patronizing and rude to Pasch.  He is a bully. That's why I can't get on the "Bill's commentary is so weird, it is fun" bandwagon.  He is arguably the most egotistical person in sports.

For Bill, both the sports and music worlds stopped 40 years ago---the Pac 12 has only been relevant because of Arizona, there have been many good players since Sydney Wicks, and the Rolling Stones and James Taylor are barely relevant to 60 year olds.

On the other hand, Pasch is an evolution-denier.

I used to listen to the Dan Patrick show a while back when i was in my car a lot for work.  He'd have Walton on once a week.  It was hilarious because Dan would simply say "Welcome back to the show Bill" and then Bill would proceed to talk for about the entire segment.  By the time he was done with his rant the segment was about over so all Dan Patrick could say was "thanks again Bill, talk to you next week".

Only reason I stay up late to watch PAC12 B-Ball.98% of color men sound alike and bore me.My favorite methaphor last night describing Oregon's situation, 'have you ever stood at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and looked up? "
