OT: Better Call Saul final season E3 (warning: spoilers)

Submitted by WindyCityBlue on April 26th, 2022 at 12:50 PM

It seems the MgoBoard has been slow, so I thought I follow-up last week's Better Call Saul post with this week's post focusing on episode 3.  Warning: spoilers!

Well, wow!!  Overall, great episode, but I'm really surprised they knocked-off Nacho this early in the final season.  I loved the Nacho character and played so well by Michael Mando.

There are 2 concurrent stories (1. Saul/Kim/Howard and 2. Gus/Mike/Nacho/Salamanca/cartel) that sometimes overlap.  But I find myself gravitating towards the story around Gus and the cartel, which is strange since this show is about Saul.  I hope these 2 stories overlap a lot more going forward.

I'm absolutely blown away with season 6 so far.

RIP Nacho, one of my favorite characters in the Breaking Bad universe. I honestly think he went out the only way he could in which he knew his pops would be safe.

What's surprised me the most is how Kim is pushing Jimmy further and further towards going full Saul. When she asked him "you gotta ask yourself, do you want to be a friend to the cartel? Or do you want to be a rat", it gave me chills.

Best show on television by far in my humble opinion

Nacho is a great character. Sad to see him gone. The phone conversation with his dad was heartbreaking.

wow, that show is just smoking hot right now.

Love the dumb little capers that saul and kim are doing.

Nacho was a good character, too bad he's done, would have liked to see more of him. Lying down in the oil was just brutal.

why would saul to rat out the cartel to the DA? I don't see the reasoning for doing that on any level.

love the small details, like the opening scene camera movement that stopped with the rain hitting the shard of glass, then nacho using it to cut his tie at the end.

I wonder what Vince Gilligan will do next. I don't often follow around specific producers/directors, but I will definitely plan to give him a follow for a while. His directing style/shot setups is something that I can fully appreciate. I'll want to see that again after this show wraps up.

The opening sequence takes place AFTER the final scene. In other words, after Nacho's death.

Nacho had the shard of glass in his hand and brought it with him. It came from the glasses that he and Mike had drinks together from. Then he dropped it after stabbing Juan Bolsa. It wasn't just conveniently on the ground.

The rain on the lone blue flower and dried weeds and the glass take place after Nacho's death. The flower was intended to represent Nacho.

I didn't like how Nacho went out. So I didn't like this episode as much as many others.  I thought the last episode in season 5 was great and killing Nacho felt like a way to clean up the plot from that crazy ending.

I think Bob Odenkirk had a heart attack while filming this season which is one reason it took so long....  I wonder if that will effect the quality?

first time I've watched just one episode a week.... I prefer the binge watch method

these seasons tend to build so I expect it to get much better!

(Somehow Saul ends up becoming a manager at Cinnabon)

Nacho did what he had to do to protect his dad. Gus would have snatched him up otherwise, Mike be damned. The best part was the joy he got, my perception, in telling Hector he was the cause of him sucking jello for the rest of his life. dad is safe and now we're on to Lalo.

Only one main left that didn't make it to BB and that is Kim. She is on a reckless path and who knows what her fate will be. Wouldn't surprise me if Vince had her killing Howard somehow.

I love BB but I think I love watching this one more.

What a great episode. Hated to see Nacho die, was definitely a great character, but that send-off he gave to Hector was absolutely savage.

I remember feeling at times like I was watching on autopilot in parts of season 3 and almost all of season 4, but season 5 and what we’ve seen so far with season 6 have been masterful. Can’t wait to see how this continues to unfold.

Great episode. Loved seeing Huell back. BTW, Is "Huell's Rules" considered cannon in the BB/BCS universe?

Whatever happens next, it's not gonna go down the way you think it is.

Do you want to be a friend of the cartel, or do you want to be a rat?

Sad to see Nacho go, but that ending scene was right up there with GOT and Olenna saying "Tell Cersei it was me...!"

note to OP: Thanks for the spoiler warning, just caught up to E3 this evening.
