OT - Better Call Saul bonus content

Submitted by Teeba on July 9th, 2020 at 9:05 PM

I just got home, checked the DVR and found 8 “new” episodes of Better Call Saul. I know what I’ll be doing this weekend. It looks like AMC is running a marathon of the last season with bonus content in each of the episodes. If you are like me, you don’t watch AMC that often, so this may take you by surprise like it did me.

No bonus material in the actual shows. Just had Bob and Rhea say some things in a couple commercials. I'm a little dissapointed in the advertising. Watching the finale now. Lalo is a a badass.

Nacho is a great character.  My problem is the way Gus got to him.  He just wandered up, looked at the pills on the ground (which were prepared by a pharmacist and looked exactly like the originals because they were the same outer capsules), and somehow knew what Nacho had done. The pills looked so real that Hector had been taking them without question.  From then on Gus had Nacho by the balls. That seemed incredibly implausible that Gus would know that, and that Nacho would acquiesce without any indignation.

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul  really do an excellent job at bringing in new characters in later seasons and make them really intriguing (Breaking Bad with Todd and BCS with Lalo).  Most prestige shows that bring on new characters it seems everyone will hate them, but Gould and friends really know what they're doing.

Unreal how good they got at making a TV over the course of Breaking Bad, and it really shows in Better Call Saul. TV perfection.

If this show ends as good as it’s been then it will be better than breaking bad. I’m confident in saying that. Vince is great at what he does

Probably may favorite show currently airing on TV at the time.   I am still pondering what's going to ultimately happen to Kim at the end of the series.

I also think Howard has become a better and better character each season, as quietly Patrick Fabian has had a great performance throughout the series

PS:  In addition to her character being great -, Rhia Seahorn is also a cool person if you haven't heard (if she doesn't get nominated for an Emmy this year finally then that will be messed up) :

This past season, for me, really upped its game compared to the previous season. It'll obviously never be what Breaking Bad was, but Vince Gilligan still knows how to write a great show. My wife and I have been debating whether the show ends with Saul inadvertently getting Kim killed, or she finally decides to leave him and not tell him where she's going. As far as I can tell she's never referred to or even alluded to in BB.

Sucks that we'll probably have to wait at least a year and a half or two years for the finale, as I can't imagine COVID is doing them any favors, but I'll be looking forward to it.

Unfortunately, now that Lalo knows that Saul tells his business to Kim, that is the beginning of the end for Kim. She also spoke up to him, and while he walked away when it happened, it does not sit well with men like Lalo when women tell them off. I am afraid that Lalo will have her killed at some point. I can’t see her leaving him, that would be out of character for her.

The last sequence of Lalo in the season finale is right up there with anything in Breaking Bad.   The vengeance in Lalo's eyes in the fade to black should make everybody nervous.  That said, I still have Breaking Bad ahead of Better Call Saul as the overall body of work is just better.  I could do without Season 1 BCS.
