Maybe some people thought that way, but he had a fair offer list (Cal, Iowa, Minnesota, MAC schools) and a decent star rating (3-star, #626 overall). Michigan took three guys rated lower than him in 2013 (Reon Dawson, Da'Mario Jones, Khalid Hill), and I think Edwards would have been just as effective as Ross Taylor-Douglas. I didn't really want Michigan to pursue him, but it wouldn't have been that much of a head-scratcher.

Yeah, he always seemed like a reasonable flyer type of recruit. He's not that big nor does he have amazing speed, but he's absolutely a kid you can take without anyone being surprised late in the cycle. I agree UM didn't need to pursue him and that would have saved UM some drama over a couple of coaching staffs, but UM has guys like him every cycle and sometimes they pan out.

Maybe not "amazing," but it appears that he's faster than one of our own favorite RBs.

Berkley Edwards
2015 (indoor at Minnesota): Finished third (6.92 seconds) in the 60-meter dash at the Iowa State Classic.

High School: Division 2 state champion in the 100-meter (10.58 seconds) and 200-meter (21.37) dashes in 2013 … helped lead Chelsea to team state championship … member of winning 400-meter relay team at the Junior Olympics.

Drake Johnson/best times in high school:
60-meter dash: 7.5
100 meter dash: 11.2
200 meter dash: 22.6

I'd much rather have offered Berkley than Norfleet.

Bloodlines as a fact in his recruitment. It is not an exact 1 for 1, but Stan was no slouch of an athlete. Most only remember Braylon. Berkley had skills, the unknown is what his measurable a were, a stat that coach B looks at to see how much more you might develop. We are also taking this kid named Dylan at Aqaba who sort of has a big time last name and has his family referenced heavily in his recruiting evaluation, not sure why it does not go both ways.

The players are seperate people though even if they might both be athletic. Berkley is not Braylon Edwards and his highest offers were Cal and Minnesota. We can't just take everybody with a Michigan name or our program will become stale. Dylan Mccaffery is also a much better prospect with better offers to go along with his name.

me there are still too many dilettantes commenting on this board.  They need to read and learn more and wisely keep their sophomoric comments to themselves or post them on lesser boards.  Perhaps then the day will come when they too will have Magnus-like tropes to share.

Speaking of transfers, does anyone know what happened with Derrick Green or where he planned on transferring?

I thought I heard Florida at one point, but it seems like he's gone completely radio silent since he left UM.
