OSU CB Gareon Conley, Florida CB Quincy Wilson, and Florida OT David Sharpe all declare for NFL Draft

Submitted by Bambi on

Title says it all.

Conley is the second OSU DB to declare in the past two days after Malik Hooker. OSU is still waiting on decisions from DB Marshon Lattimore, LB Raekwon McMillan, DE Tyquan Lewis, HB Curtis Samuel, TE Marcus Baugh, and QB JT Barrett. All but Barrett are probably leans to go pro, with many OSU fans thinking Barrett will either go pro or follow Tim Beck and Tom Herman to Texas.

I'm not nearly as familiar with Florida's roster, but they do have projected high picks in Teez Tabor and Caleb Brantley who are good bets to go pro. Florida will have to replace a good bit on defense next year, will return most of their anemic offense and still need a new DC to replace Geoff Collins. They've also been pretty underwhelming on the recruiting rail under McElwain, with the 21st ranked class nationally his first year, the 12th ranked class last year, and they currently have the 19th ranked class with no 5 stars and 8/15 3 stars.

How did that 12th one go tho?

Oh and by the way, anyone else getting sick of hearing names of recruits Michigan finished 2nd for ball out in big games?

I swear all the USC playmakers on defense favored Michigan at one point from Iman Marshall to Leon McQuay.

Gareon Conley is another one I won't miss hearing about.

As opposed to those that said that they were the best college football team in history and could beat the Browns after they beat Rutgers 58-0. There's a lot of people who always pump them up on here even if it's not justified. If we did the same thing that they did early in the season, the same people would say that the sample size isn't big enough to determine if we were any good.

I follow a fair amount of florida fans on twitter - from my discussions with them they are losing:

Both Corners, Safety, 2 Linebackers, and potentially a DT (all starters). They didnt think they were going to lose an OT tho.

to the NFL.

CB: Teez Tabor and Quincy Wilson - both of them are among the best CBs in the country and Teez Tabor might be the first CB taken in the draft.

S: Marcus Mayes - I know some considered him to be a better S than Keanu Neal who went first round to the Falcons.

LB: Jarrad Davis - He has been hurt this season but he's one of the better LB in the country whe healthy.

DT: Caleb Brantley - He has the talent to be one of the best DT in the country but he's very inconsistent in terms of production. He flashes by shooting to the gap and wreck the play before it began but he disappear for stretches of the game.

However, several said that the best defensive player will be returning is DE Jabari Zuniga. He's pretty much a future 1st rounder. He shows burst, bend and quickness in limited duty. He's going to be a big problem for whoever is starting at OT next season.

Yup, Indiana doesn't just go and fire one of the best coaches they've ever had because of minor infractions. I mean it's probably only a matter of months until the truth makes it into the national news and then what? OSU is left looking awful. "Hey! Ohio State just hired this guy who ______". Urban can get someone better

The only concrete thing I saw reported on the Wilson firing was mishandling concussions to the detriment of players. You're right though I'm sure the full news comes out now that he's elevated to the OSU 24 hour news cycle. Then again, I never heard any follow up when Schiano sent a bicyclist to the hospital (could be nothing) or when Brian Kelly was responsible for the death of a student (big thing).

Mostly it involved mistreating players with any kind of injury, not just concussions.

Here's one report from their student paper.

As I have said in other threads, he had zero chance of getting a job here. Frankly, I'm surprised OSU would hire him. It says a lot about Meyer and their administration.

I live in Bloomington and worked for the athletic department for a while. All I'll say is Wilson isn't a saint, but it's honestly not as bad as people are making it seem. If it was that bad would they have kept their defensive coordinator around and make him the head coach?? Of course Allen knew of everything going on. The player that caused Wilson to resign was a defensive player that Allen looked after. I'm not saying Allen is more to blame, just that there is more to the story. Glass and Wilson didn't see eye to eye is what it ultimately boils down to, but Wilson isn't some evil guy.

Interesting speculation on Barrett going to Texas. I'd assume that would open the door for Haskins to start, and follow an identical career path as John Brantley.

That is the only question he needs answered. He is a jack of all trades but not really a RB, and not really a receiver. He is like a basketball tweener.
