The Only Wolverine in Arena Football
I'm so desperate for football that I'm sitting here watching the Las Vegas Outlaws battle the Los Angeles KISS in an Arena Football game on ESPN2. Which got me to Googling: Are there any ex-Wolverines in the Arena League?
There is. One. Terrance Taylor of the Spokane Shock.
I also found this listing of all the Wolverines that have ever played in the Arena League. You'll be surprised at some of the names (Paul Jokisch?):

Scott Dreisbach had a surprisingly weird Arena Football career. Seem to recall him getting a lot of press for defensive play. Remy Hamilton, too.

Yes, it looks like he made 11 tackles playing for Columbus in 2007. Drew Henson spent his minor league career in Columbus, too. The fans were brutal to him.

Right position.
I think he was just commenting that Slocum played in the Arena League as well.
He asked if there are any ex-players in the league. Slocum is no longer in the league.
There are a ton more guys who USED to play in the league. That wasn't the question.

Had there been an NBDL back then I wonder if Jokisch would have gone that route....

I just looked it up - Arena League players earn $830 per game. Quarterbacks earn $250 more.
Ohio State pays more than that.

And they'll give you a pizza after the game!

Every Wolverine in the Arena Football League by stint.

How come I can't remember this guy?

Jean-Agnes Charles was a four year letterman CB from Montreal. He played at Michigan from 1992-1995.
He appeared in 21 games including 7 as a true freshman. He totaled 30 tackles and 14 TFL yards along with 2 career PBUs.
He, along with Ante Skorput, was selected in the 1995 CFL Canadian Draft. Charles went in the 3rd round, 21st overall, to the Calgary Stampeders.

The 13-13 tie game.
I used to see him at the CCRB working out with Jared Lancer.
I don't think he ever played very much at UM except for special teams.

He's been keeping an open file.
a nice guy, but I still blame him for a couple of games from the 1992 season. He missed an extra point in the OSU game that cost us a win (tied 13-13). And he missed an extra point in the Illinois game; however he did nail a long field goal at the end to somewhat redeem himself to tie the game and send us to the rose bowl. That 92 season was weird with three ties on the resume'. (9-0-3)
April 12th, 2015 at 11:13 AM ^
Yeah. The Albanian Assassin lacked some range and accuracy. What was strange is that Pete nailed 40+ yard FGs in HS regularly but when he got to UM he seemed more limited. Didn't want to ask him about it but it seemed odd. Perhaps I'll bring it up at our 30 year CC anniversary in a few years.
were always in when he kicked in college?
Sincerely, Ray Finkle

For carving out a nice 14 year Arena League kicking career.
April 12th, 2015 at 10:15 AM ^
I bet a kicker can still have a regular job. I am not sure most could spend the time required to be a football player for $830 a week.
April 12th, 2015 at 12:26 PM ^
Ah Matt Gutierrez - the assumed starter at Michigan until he was hurt just before the season started, ushering in the Chad Henne era. Crazy how that stuff works out.
was a solid kicker. He did lack range, but he was pretty reliable inside of 40 yards.
