There is no way that Bama deserves it over OSU.  They have no high quality wins, while OSU beat Wisconsin, Michigan on the road, MSU, and PSU when they were #2.  But here's the good news -- the committee will shaft OSU out of their idolatrous worship of Saban and their memory of the way OSU was crushed by Clemson (and would be crushed again).  And this will drive Urban insane.  Good times for everyone!

How exactly does Bama deserve it?   By beating nobody?  Best win is LSU.  Second best win is..... a four loss Miss State?   Take away their names and their resume is awfully similar to Wisconsin.

I hate OSU but they have 3 wins over top 20 teams and Bama has 3 wins over teams with winning records.

Who would win in a head to head matchup between OSU and Alabama

I think Bama would whoop the buckeyes, I imagine most of America feels this way.

So by that logic Alabama should get in.

But now that I've typed that out, OSU will get in because the world is a shitty place

It's funny to think eyeball wise OSU hasn't been impressive like baama.. But deserve some credit for a much harder schedule. If it was anyone else, I would be trumoeting for the 2 loss team that played a dogged slate of games. But Iowa was such a shit kicking... I guess OSU, with another lopsided near shutout loss, is best case looking forward.

Unfortunately, at the end of the day, the Playoff Committee is still a political animal.

Last year, they did not put in the Big Ten champion . . . but they did not leave out a Big Ten team entirely.  They just swapped Ohio State for Penn State.

This year they would leave out the Big Ten entirely, and instead give another conference two teams instead.

To review:  You would have no teams at all from the Midwest and the West Coast regions of the country.  You would have three from the Southeast and one from the Southwest.

You can make a lot of good arguments to justify this.  I don't have a problem with it at all.

But the CFP - a political animal - is going to be extremely shy about doing this without clear-cut black and white justification.  There is too much gray this season for them to take that leap.

My guess is that we are going to be stuck with Ohio State being put in as the committee's path of least resistance.

Delany wants OSU in because those half wit morons throw ungodly amounts of money at anything OSU.  And the whole state roots for OSU.  Does that outweigh a better team in Alabama?

Tough to say.  Gene Smith is also on the committee too isn't he?

Alabama should be in, but OSU might make them more money.

You don’t lose to an average Iowa team by 30+ points and go to the playoff. Case closed. Ohio State would be lucky to get into an 8 team playoff.

OSU fans shouldn't want any part of Georgia either. So, Clemson is gonna whoop them, Oklahoma is gonna whoop them and Georgia is gonna whoop them.

Recap: If OSU gets in, they gonna get whooped.

(NOTE: Unless they have B1G officials handling the games, in which case, the Golden Vagina trophy is all but assured.)

Robert Smith was the epitome of this last night.

He twisted himself into a pretzel trying to justify how Ohio State should be in . . . then kept repeating over and over how he could understand if the committee left them out.

He does not really want them in.

He saw how OSU struggled with a Wisconsin team that has nowhere near the athletes that Clemson does.

Another blow out loss by OSU in the Playoff could keep them out for years in any kind of 50/50 situation in the future.

Their resume is virtually identical to Alabama's and have one more win. Would love to hear the Alabama apologists explain why Alabama deserves inclusion and Wisconsin isn't even being considered. Should be OSU unfortunately IMO. Have more quality wins and won conference.

People have suggested CFU with little to no resistance yet they play in a dogs hit conference that doesn't play defense. Wisconsin may not have a glistening resume, but Alabama's doesn't either, and they lost to a (now) 3-loss Auburn.

There's no clear cut answer but anyone suggesting Ohio State over Alabama has as much of an argument as those touting Bama.

But if they did one of those blind resume charts pitting Wisconsin vs Alabama I dont think the decision on who goes and who stays home would be as cut and dry as ESPN and the rest of the SEC honks would like to make you think it is.

My point is if the committee does what they claim they are charged with doing - rewarding quality wins and conference championships when all other variables are even then OSU goes and it's not really that big of a debate.  The ONLY reason Alabama is being discussed as feverishly as they are is because of their legacy and brand - not their record.

Look for the record fuck Ohio State

But fuck Alabama, the SEC and ESPN even more IMO.

sit out a year after last year's embarrassment. That, and you can't lose by 31 points to Iowa. Bama passes the eye test better.

any semblance of credibility they have if they give OSU the nod over Bama after passing over Penn State last year. It would reek of favoritism.

Not really comparable.  OSU had the strong schedule last year beating Oklahoma at Oklahoma last year.    Bama doesn't have the same resume this year.  FSU tanked and they lost to the only strong team on their schedule

Also, by picking OSU over PSU last year they still picked a Big Ten team.

They did not leave out a Big Ten team for two SEC teams.

That's a whole different threshold.  Extremely controversial.

If you do that, you better have really clear compelling reasons to do that.  Alabama has not given those reasons this year.

Yeah, I want to hear that:

"Ohio State had a really bad loss at Iowa.  But at least they played a 9th conference game to have a loss in.  Alabama did not even take the risk of a bad loss in an extra conference game.  They played Mercer in November.  So they are out."
