The Official Stay Calm Thread

Submitted by South Bend Wolverine on

samdrussBLUE called for it, and it's true - we need a stay calm thread here, not a meltdown one.  That game was frustrating as hell, and we missed some big chances, there's no denying it.  Still, it's a series for a reason, and this team is not done playing.  Last time we dropped the first game of a series, we went on to beat Minny 9-4, 9-1 (6 inn.) on the road.  Last time we dropped the first game of a WCWS Finals series, we won the whole damn thing.  Let's keep it together until this amazing team has battled through the final out.  And even if the worst happens, we're going to tip our damn caps to these women who have worked wonders all year, not melt down.  They deserve better.

I think it's more a result of Michigan sports in general than softball in particular. It's not ideal to be down a game in a three game series, obviously, but these girls have done more than enough to earn my trust. I really do believe that they will win this thing.

You have to believe that our two best players can pick it up.  Betsa has been off her game for three straight outings while Romo doesn't seem to have her head in the game.  The team is tight, but Hutch knows how to get them back playing loosely.  I believe!

Exactly. This was no meltdown. Damn good attempt to rally back. It fell short. I think we are well positioned for the next two games.

far enough down the line to draw a throw and distract Florida from the play at second. However in Sierra's defense that was only the first out. All we needed to do was get the ball to the outfield with one out to score the run. She played it conservative and didn't want to make the first out at home. That's understandable. The play happens fast. She had little time to think it through.

We seemed to play tight and played not to make mistakes instead of taking our game to them. I think that will change in game two.

That Minnesota series feels like forever ago.

Another 28 game win streak following a loss will do!

We were destined to lose one game against a powerhouse like Florida. Now that lost game is done, we have only two wins to victory and a championship. Cease with the disbelief, there is a trophy to collect here.

I'm proud to be associated with a university that has an 800 post thread about softball, 10 times longer than any of our competitors.  I hadn't watched a game in years until last week, and I have to admit, it's pretty entertaining.  I'm rooting for M to win.  Part of it stems from the relative weakness of the football team since 2006.

Let's get it done.

You're missing this performance, then.

"The board was a lot more fun for Softball when the marks were busy with the "revenue sports" threads and recruiting.

Sorry to say. I really get a chuckle at the johnny-come-latelys who have watched this team play for one week and think they know it all and probably can't even name every pitcher on the roster.

If that makes me arrogant, then so be it.

Really makes me appreciate our threads during the regular season with the usual Softball crowd on here."

1) Blockquotes. Use them.

2) Thad understood the whole point of the post. 100. You did not.

I don't have any problem with fans who are just Football/Basketball fans. That's probably a good chunk of the Big House crowd. That's most of my family.

We played pretty poorly and barely lost to an extremely good team that's defending their national championship.  Loosen up and believe they can win like they did the last two innings and we're in solid shape.

Hopefully Wagner starts and continues to dominate.
