O'Korn not first QB drafted?

Submitted by vnperk on

Lorenz says O'Korn wasn't the first QB picked in the Spring Game draft.

Discuss.

Well on the bright side, whoever it is has at least shown that they are currently playing better than an AAC starting caliber QB at bare minimum. So that's relatively positive perhaps? Assuming it was Speight, he played fairly well against Minnesota went Ruddock went out so definitely good to have some serious competition.

From the UM football pre-draft tweets, I saw for sure saw Drevno, Brown, and Jay in one "war room" and Mattison, Fisch and others in the other.

The only rule I seem to remember was something about duplicate position picks - something like you can't pick a 2nd Left Tackle until the other team took one. -- the pre draft tweets showed every player listed as a specific position so that seems to make sense.

Speight has "it" in him. I think the Minnesota game gave Wilt confidence that catapulted him into the 2016 QB race

Instead of speculating, why don't we just take Jedd Fisch's words from a week ago when he said no one has separated?

I mean it's not like they are hiding anything. Jedd came right out and said it a week ago: Shane needs to be more consistent. O'Korn needs to find timing with his WR's. Wilton is battling. Peters and Malzone are still learning.

All of your freak out comments, but this reminds me of my friends telling me about the time when everyone thought Gutierrez (sp?) would be the starter in 04 and it went to Henne. Who cares who is picked first in March? Fall is what matters. Now stop spoiling my drinking!

As I recall, Sir James made some very complimentary statements regarding Peters after the final scrimmage at IMG...liked his presence/coolness, especially for a QB that would normally be finishing his Sr. year in H.S..  Interesting.  Just keep in mind, with Mr. Harbaugh there is no controversy--only competition.

But he didn't really make positive comments about the other QBs in the same way. When I listened to that interview I was surprised to hear how openly effusive he was on Peters. The things that hold back Freshmen from being ready were the very things Harbaugh was praising him for such as calmness, commanding the huddle etc. Peters has a chance to compete for the job.

I think he was asked more about Peters than some of the nondescript players (like Malzone, Speight, etc.) simply because there are always questions about the fresh faces on campus.

In my opinion.... Brandon Peters will be the starting QB before the end of the season.  He is by far the most physically gifted and is one cool headed kid.

I still think this is a 2 loss team either way....but Peters will end up starting the Ohio State game

Mark it down.

Peter's gets redshirted.

Just a guess...but I like to sound confident when I guess. Like everyone else that basically has no actual internal knowledge of what's going on at practice.

Okay so I guess that depends on what web site you look at. But at best, he's the same size as Morris with maybe an inch on him... Not saying he's small, but I just don't understand saying he's physically gifted

Jim Harbaugh

Maybe he was referring to being able to understand putting touch on the ball, throwing your receivers open, moving the pocket, eye contact, progressions...? Not everything has to due with ht/weight as you seem to think, Theres certain players who are just "gamers". Not saying he isnt gifted is strange to me given how young and high his ceiling is.

Look at Peters physique, in particular his lower body.  Look at his arm strength, his vision and touch on the ball.... his ability to move in the pocket.

Those are all Physical Gifts.

I know that Harbaugh knows this and you will see Peters on the field this fall.

That will put 2 full seasons between he and McCaffrey (who will probably redshirt) as well.

It will happen. I am sure of this.
