O'Korn's Backup

Submitted by MGoVoldemort on

Unlike some, I'm not too concerned with O'Korn under center. I trust Harbaugh completely when it comes to signal caller decisions. That being said, it would appear that Shane Morris is a missed block away from being thrust into duty. And while I trust Harbaugh completely, the thought of Shane Morris taking the field in November does not provide me with much comfort. Morris has been in action this year, but they always appear to be something that could be considered token snaps. Is it a forgone conclusion that Morris is the backup, or (outside of Peters) is there another option?

They are 3rd string for a reason.

The backup is Shane. He's (obviously) got flaws, but he's been 3rd man in all year, and there is nothing that would change that now.

For example, I don't care how mature Peters is -- having him play, on the road against the #2 team in the nation, in his college debut would have an extremely low chance of having a positive outcome. Plus, you will have burned his redshirt.

Hopefully, O'Korn will be healthy and play at an acceptable level. God forbid there is an injury, it is Sugar Shane time.

What in god's green makes you think that would work? Have you seen the Pepcat lately? He can't even decide correctly when to handoff, let alone actually throw the ball.

And who would you replace him with on defense? No player can play QB (all game) and defense (all game).

I swear, we get one major injury and people act like they've suffered head injuries.

Follow Baylor's 2015 bowl game plan (down two QBs), and use Peppers, McDoom, Evans, Chesson, and Khaleke Hudson as wildcat QBs.  Worked for them (600+ yards rushing against North Carolina).

We all know Morris' flaws and no one wants to see their third string quarteback in meaningful gametime. However, Morris is a former 5 star recruit with a rocket for an arm that has been coached for the last 2 years by Jim Harbaugh. As far as 3rd string quarterbacks go, that aint so bad.

So to paraphrase "I'm worried that our 3rd string QB may not be as good as the guy playing 1st string?

Jesus fucking Christ man did it ever occur to you that's WHY he's third string? HE'S THIRD STRING CUZ HES NOT AS GOOD AS 1 & 2 string for Christi sakes
