NPF to OSU

More than previous years it looks like the top recruits are picking fewer and fewer schools. Ohio Satte, UGA, BAma and a couple others are basically getting 90% of the top players.

I read he wants to study Business.
OSU:
15th ranked business school (Fisher)
Top 3 in football
Michigan:
11th ranked business school (Ross)
Top 25 in football (generous)
I think we need to pull back on the "LOLZ academics" reaction.

Michigan is a Top 10 business school for undergraduate
OSU is a top 15 business school for undergraduate
Once you account for the difference in football rankings and NFL draft potential, OSU won.
The kid is going to receive a good education and great football.

Depends on the subject matter as well, but overall Ross' peer schools include schools like Stern, Johnson and Wharton.
OSU's do not.

Can we be real for a second? This by no means a knock on this kid, who by all accounts seems to have an A+ personality and genuinely wants to emphasize academics as part of his college experience, but do you really think he's looking at US News college rankings going
"Well Michigan is #11, but OSU is only #15. Oh, but where is Notre Dame ranked?"
"Hmmmm now let's compare the pros and cons of each schools accounting programs and compare how many graduates each program sends to Big Four firms!"
You hear about academics coming into play all the time with recruits. You all saw it with Da'Shawn Hand, if I'm recalling his recruitment correctly. It's not that academic don't matter to these players, but for them, the difference in where a school ranks in some publication is negligible.
In the end, it's relationships that win out.

This sucks, they just roll in and take whoever they want. You have to give them credit even though it makes me want to die inside.

Of course, but I still think, had Harbaugh fired Pep, Dreveno and Dudek and made things simpler with the staff, that would have showed some fight. It would have showed some signs of life and recruits would have reacted positively. Harbaugh is gambling that these people will lead him to the promise land and boy he mistaken. Never thought that the Harbaugh era could end like the Hoke era did. I say could, but I really hope I'm wrong on this.

Yes, Ed Warinner is the answer to all your offensive woes.

The way this is going, someone from Ohio is going to outbid me and I'm going to lose out on that too. If you need me, I'll be in the corner with some scotch listening to R.E.M - Everybody hurts.

Which is Johnnie Walker Black. It's fine. This is fine. Everything is fine.

Hard to get upset when this was expected to happen, and no one in their right mind expected him to come here.
OSU has out-recruited us for years, and has whipped us up and down the field for the last 17 years. I don't blame a kid who chooses OSU over us. It's a logical choice.

But not this bad usually. Harbaugh had the small class when he first got here, that was no biggy that he didn't get a ton of highyl ranked players. Then he had the 5th and 8th ranked classes, we were ahppy, but those classes still weren't as good as Urban's. This year is a gut punch. Our class is not in sthe same ball park as Ohio States. Our class is closer to Oregon State and Kansas than it is to Ohio State. That's not good.

this is something that doesnt really shock me but what does is the way that they were his last official, and it took to the end of the cycle for it to be well known that Schiano was his lead recruiter and NPF is friends with his kids. It seems like all along he was just blowing smoke when he was "playing it close to the vest" something about this just screams he knew all along.

I'm taking a break from work right now and getting caught up on NSD news. Damn. I didn't see NPF coming to AA, but seeing him go to those fucking guys... FUCK O$U
February 7th, 2018 at 11:14 AM ^
What the fuck does that guy do, exactly? He can't coach O-Line, or recruit. So, I'll do his job for half the salary. I can be useless for half the price.

Have to win more before expecting every recruit to choose Michigan. Things will work themselves out, the current team has lots of talent

If Michigan can figure out a way to beat their rivals and prove they can churn out NFL ready O lineman year after year, then maybe Harbaugh will land top level O lineman.

Read the articles on the NPF recruiting. Meyer and Schiano provided him a complete, professional outline of his academic, starting football, and post-college tracks. This was not just for NPF but for his mother as well. UM needs to cut out the gimmicky sleepover crap and show the parents what the school can do for their son. Harbaugh may have a great football mind, but some of his quirkyness just doesn't sell.
