Noon kickoff for Illinois

Submitted by BlueMan80 on November 13th, 2022 at 6:31 PM

Not unexpected, but maybe the most humane kickoff time given it should be cold, but at least they’ll be some sun to help things feel somewhat warm.  Noon kick would have been great yesterday, but we all survived.

Go Blue!  Beat Illinois!

This isn't OSU.  When Illinois loses a starter, there's usually a dropoff.  Chase Brown has gained 78% of their rushing yards (1442 of 1836) by himself.  Their backup tailback (Reggie Love III) has just 188 yards on the season.

Hey buddy, we don't play OSU until next week, so we can hold off on the "They can plug the next guy in and he'll be just as good" fears until then.

I have to believe that after Chase Brown, there is probably a pretty considerably dropoff down to the next guy on Illinois' depth chart. Illinois does not have a roster stacked with NFL talent like the following opponent does, so whatever hopes Illinois had on Saturday....well....they just took a massive, perhaps even irreparable hit.

That's no reason to overlook them, but I think Michigan will be fine on Saturday.

Brhino,

First, I wouldn't wish injury on any college student athlete.

And, to my knowledge, nothing's been published / released about Chase Brown's injury and it's status.

However, it is, IMO, fair to compare the "lead" RB's of both teams.   Blake Corum accounts for about 51% of Michigan's rushing attempts and about 53.5% of the rushing yardage.  Chase Brown accounts for almost 63% of Illinois' rushing attempts and over 78% of their rushing yardage.

Other metrics - YPC, etc. - reflect the relative depth of each school's RB position group.  Michigan certainly appears to have a deeper group - and, Michigan will be the home team - and, can dress "practically everyone" for the game.

Wishing Chase Brown a quick and complete recovery.

Coming from CA to visit fam for the holiday and bought tickets a few days ago.  Section 22 Row 40-something.  This will be my first game in person(!). Very excited to see a live game during a great season.  Just hoping the forecast warms up a bit ha.

Man that 3:30 kickoff was killer. Survival was the only word you could use after all the WET seats and cushions sank into all my clothes.  Even my blankets gained weight yesterday.

I’m on the fence for this one. I never miss games and two weeks ago this looked like the 3rd best home game of the season.

Man though, the weather and frankly the pace I know the game will be, is it worth 8 hours on a Saturday when it could be much more beneficial to utilize the Saturday?

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s a real decision. Since it’s the last home game I may just suck it up.

My last game was in 2016, also against Illinois, someone was kind enough to post a pregame itinerary that included watching the drumline and tips for where to walk around. If anyone has suggestions for us flying in from the west coast, it would be very much appreciated.
