NIL: Cade McNamara DocuSeries. Episode 1 airs TONIGHT at 7pm
[Note: I'm going to start tagging posts "NIL:" if they're an opportunity to support one of the players.]
[Bryan Fuller]
QB1 has been working with Revelmoments.com to produce an interactive program. From the company:
The multi-episode, live experience series titled "The Leader" will be produced by REVEL Moments. This series will explore multiple facets of Cade's life and journey including his early years growing up in Reno, Nevada, his time in Ann Arbor, and his upcoming senior season. In each episode, Cade will interact directly with the live, viewing audience and provide a rare behind-the-scenes view of life as a starting quarterback at one of the most renowned college football programs in the country. Like HBO's "Hard Knocks" series, yet in a live format with fans.
If you've ever wondered what it's like going from a kid who kinda likes playing football to the starting quarterback for the Big Ten champs, this is it. If you've ever wondered how you can show some appreciation for the starting quarterback for the Big Ten champs, well, this is it. If you want a chance to be shown asking questions on the documentary about the starting quarterback for the Big Ten champs, this is it.
Cost to attend is $40 and there's a limited supply because it's going to be interactive/online. Like so:
The first episode airs/records live tomorrow, Tuesday May 17, at 7PM EDT and will revisit The Game last year.
I'll add that going through UTL with Denard for our history podcast was one of the highlights of my MGoBlog career. You think you remember those moments, but it's totally different when the guy who was there is telling you what he was feeling down there. It becomes part of the way you remember it too.
Cade is the first college athlete they're doing this with, for the record. It grew out of a thing they were doing during the pandemic to connect NBA athletes to the fans. I'll be there and hope a lot of you will be as well.
Upcoming senior year?
It’ll be Cade’s 4th season on campus
Players see themselves in terms of how many years they've been in college, not eligibility. They're also organized that way in the locker room. True freshmen go in the freshman part of the locker room together and are considered a class all the way up. We fans are focused on eligibility because that's our interaction with them, but they're living this every day, and to them a year is a year. Cade doesn't feel like a sophomore. He's a senior taking senior courses and fulfilling the senior role in the locker room and finishing his coursework to graduate. If he has two more years after this one that he can play, those feel like options, but don't define his place on the team. Understand?
He'll be a senior in school, and Michigan always lists a player by his academic year.
He'll still have two years of eligibility after this season, though.
Yes as a 4th year player, he will in fact be a senior in the fall
I love Cade. I love what he did for this team.
That's why it hurts to say that I hope he's our backup this year. Hopefully, he'll stick around and graduate before he looks elsewhere.
There's no doubt that McCarthy appears to have a higher ceiling, but I just hope whoever gives Michigan the best chance to win next year is who ends up starting, regardless of who that ends up being.
Besides, if McNamara is the floor for what we can expect at the QB position next season, I think Michigan is in pretty darn good shape. Not unreasonable to think that he could be even better himself next season as well.
If he's going to improve, it HAS to be as a running threat. I felt like he had a bit of that in 2020 in the short amount of time he played, but then basically nothing last year. If he would just pull the damn ball when appropriate, man.
Does anyone remember the recent period of Michigan football when people kept saying, "if we just had a better QB..."?
I'm so thankful Michigan has Cade & JJ on this team. As long as the coaches handle it properly, it's going to be so much more awesome than "THAT OTHER" period of Michigan football.
It is a little surprising how much people seem to write off any improvement from Cade. He was just a first year starter last season and showed progress throughout the season. Of course we know who he is to an extent, but it's not as though he doesn't have areas he could improve in a full off season - with a year of experience as the starter.
Well that didn't take long...
Seems every Cade thread has to have a quick turn to this....talk of him being the back up.
What are your thoughts on this DocuSeries? NIL? Cade and NIL? Or is the answer to all things Cade simply JJ?
Cade is a top 10 QB in UM history IMO. Not based on talent and athleticism but based on football IQ, Leadership, Having clutch moments and being a flat out winner.
C-Mac came in to rally us against Rutgers, during our 2-4 season and that win might've saved Harbaugh's job. Cade is not flashy but he is steady and makes clutch throws, the throw to a sliding Cornelius Johnson in the Ohio game stands out. He is a B1G Champion QB and that hadn't been heard around here in a while.
This is great...a high vis example of NIL at UM that doesn't have any crazy/dirtball antics attached to it.
Might have to check it out for his perspective on Reno as a fellow Renoite. The area doesn't produce many FBS recruits, so it's interesting to follow their careers.
Cade would be far more appreciated if JJ wasn't also here. Glad to have him.
Sorry if I missed it but is it $40 to watch it too? Even if you don't want the interactive part of it?
Yeah the point is to, you know, NIL for Cade. But I bet you could find someone who'll do that and will give you their login.
I actually ended up buying it. It was cool seeing Cade relaxed and sharing stories. Didn't get to ask him a question but everyone who did seemed really happy to be interacting with him, and he was appreciative. Think the head count was just below 50. He also likes country music.
