Nico Collins evidently switching to #1

Per Isaiah Hole's twitter and Nico's insta.

Not sure if there was an essay requirement this time.

On another note, I wouldn't mind giving it to Xavier Worthy next year.

1.  He's good.

2.  He came back.

3.  He will have fantastic numbers this season on a per/game basis.  (Yes, I'm an optimist with regards to the season.)

For those reasons, I agree he should get #1.  And even if there is no season, he deserves it on paper only for reasons 1 and 2 above.

I love the idea of awarding a player the jersey if they have made multi-year impacts. Nico deserves it. Maybe by his sophmore year, Xavier will earn it, or maybe Giles Jackson will have already earned it. Give the players just another thing to motivate them and compete for.

Giles supposedly switched to 0. I do feel like this season's WR core, while maybe not as talented, have more chemistry. We really have a passing threat for each level of the field, Nico for the deep ball, floaters, and redzone, Bell for the intermediary routes, YAC monster, crossing routes and Jackson in the slot for the speed in space and stretching the field. Throw in the occasional burner (Henning, Sainristl, Wilson) for four wide sets and there is going to be a lot of versatility on the field. Add to that Chris Evans on third downs. Maybe Charbonnet will also improve his receiving game.

And he might never get a chance to shine in it....sigh if there is no football this fall its gonna be depressing as hell. At the same time we need this pandemic to end

Given that this coming season is about to disappear, isn’t there a chance that players like him will be allowed a way to skip 2021 and go pro? Maybe a supplemental draft? Seems unfair that his decision to stay will now cost him two years in the pros. Of course that assumes the nfl will play this year. Which it may well not.

For coming back you give Nico whatever the hell he wants. Without Nico we're handing off 2/3rds of the time and mixing it in with Ronnie Bell and a potpourri of TE's of 4 yard slants. The preview of last year's QB R/P option with DM and no downfield threat...well we saw how that's probably going to turn out.

Agreed with the above opinion(s) though that we're never going to see it.
