They will just move on to the next story that keeps people flocking to their daily soap opera. "Insiders" are there to speculate regardless of what they know or don't know because people are addicted to it all.

Get Jim Harbaugh

FUCK THE NFL GUYS.

I am so fucking sick of the NFL folks who believe that overrated league is the second coming of Christ.

"Oh...hahahaha. No one will EVER willingly leave the NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE. We own the galaxy."

Yeah well, go fuck yourself, NFL honks.

Drew Sharp will probably write something like "yeah Harbaugh's here now, but every year he'll have the NFL knocking on his door, causing a major distraction for Michigan. Is the distraction really worth it? No."

then I wipe my ass with it because it's Drew Sharp

he'd be right except for the "is it worth it" part. If it's for 8 years I'd be stunned if he stayed for all 8. Anything past 4 I'd consider bonus time. He will not retire at UM if he takes the job right now. I'm cool with that, btw. Gimme 5 years and he can go back to the NFL, leave us in good hands with someone and it's still the best hire to be made this year. Yet, he'll have NFL vultures calling every year. It's a negative but a decent negative to have in that other coaches will use that against us in recruiting: "You know it's only a matter of time before he goes back to the NFL.....", etc. However, as a recruit I'd take 2 years under a bona fide NFL HC & staff over 4 with a college lifer who's system is have to unlearn when I got to the league.

You have no idea how it is going to play out.. This offer from Michigan reshapes college coaching and makes it competitive with the NFL.. Furthermore you have no idea what exactly Harbaugh is thinking. If M can stay competitive w salary and he is competing nationally he may come to love the situation. These notions of what "exactly" is going to happen are ridiculous.

No repercussions for NFL reporters. They'll talk about it for a day or two, roll their eyes, and then get back to the playoffs. Not even a blip on the video screen.

"He never had any solid NFL offers."
"Several GMs kicked the tires on Harbaugh and walked away unimpressed."
"Sources say that many believe that Harbaugh isn't cut out for the NFL."

It'll fall along the lines of "We're not worried in the slightest. Meyer/Dantonio will own Harbaugh for the next 10 years."

I wouldn't expect either MSU or OSU to fall flat on its face when facing Harbaugh, but it baffles me that their fans won't even consider the notion that a Harbaugh-coached Michigan team could actually beat them.

Tried NFL but realized college is less stress with more perks? Basically if you can out recruit you have a better chance to win. Compared to the more level playing field in NFL. Maybe he stays for 10 yrs or at least I hope.

voting details make me wonder...is self upvoting how people get to the magical number of points to post? Just curious.... Its a random question..I think I should start a thread.

That seems like some kind of strange loophole if it does. What you are forgetting is that all the user has to do is post the word "Harbaugh" and the user will get points. Monkey rodeo seems useful as well. Edit: LSA apparently answered my question as I was fat thumbing my way through my post.

I know you can self-upvote your own thread - at your own risk, of course - but you shouldn't actually be able to self-upvote your own posts, or at least, that functionality was turned off soon after the old voting system was restored (you could do it for a few hours). Then again, there are known troll accounts which are the brainchildren of others users which, well, sometimes it seems they might get used for that very purpose - self-upvoting, but not "yourself" per se.

I'm at the point where anything Drew Sharp says goes in one ear and out the other. It's a shame because the guy is the only writer in Detroit that actually isn't afraid to speak his mind. Just wish he fought the good fight and didn't use his position for "ax to grind" purposes!

Can someone on Twitter PLEASE blow up Gil Brandt about why Cutliffe would turn down the job that Harbaugh took. Looks like times have changed, eh Gil?
