"The Michigan Insider has confirmed Belleville (Mich.) 2025 five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood is taking an unofficial visit to Michigan on Thursday."

Underwood is reaching the point as a recruit where he’s been to campus probably 4-5 times and we should start to feel pretty good about him, but I still have very little hope

If read between the lines of his dad’s comments, the hatred that they had for Weiss is so glaringly obvious.

Campbell has been killing it. Whether it’s Underwood or a couple of these other top 30 guys it feels like a spot where back to back classes will have elite qbs at the top of them.

Wow, who would've guessed that? I mean, a college true freshman who has been anointed the Almighty Savior of the program he chooses since he was...a wee child? I simply cannot believe he didn't throw for all the yards and all the touchdowns. And no veil torn? Shocking, I tell ya

Edit: to clarify, I'm not bashing the kid. I'm bashing anyone who is surprised at this. Give him a moment to take a breath, let alone finish his first semester, learn the playbook, get in the weight room...you know, all the experiences that allow a young player to not act so young.

The talk around Manning for a while was that he was obviously coached by a bunch of good QBs and had solid ability but played against really mediocre competition in HS and would have been a mid 4* kid if his name didn't end in "Manning".  As expected, Texas overpaid for a decent player and will now spend years trying to convince everyone They're Back because of it.

If schools like Alabama, Georgia, OSU, etc. can land 5* QB in back-to-back classes, Michigan should be able to do so!

I'd say that it's almost a necessity if you want to maintain your team's elite status.

Problem is OSU and Bama have their 5-stars go to the NFL early so if you're the 2nd 5-star in that order, you have a pretty decent chance of competing for the starting spot with no incumbent by your junior year at the latest.

Michigan hasn't had a QB go early so if you're the 2nd QB in that order, you'll have to either beat that guy out or wait until your senior year to realistically start.

That's all fine and good, but Henne was a career back up from the Carr tenure. It has no bearing on recruits right now.

And in most cases, getting to the NFL is what really matters. Have OSU QBs panned out in the NFL? No. But they have sent 4 QBs to the NFL since the 2015 draft (Barrett was an UDFA IIRC so that would be 5 I guess if you count him). Michigan has had 1 drafted in that same timeframe.

So, if you're a recruit, getting to the NFL and getting that first paycheck is more likely to happen if you go to OSU.

Michigan hasn't had a 5* QBs go pro early because they haven't had any 5* QBs.

Almost any 5* QB over the past 15 years would've had a very strong chance of starting as a sophomore at Michigan...and then, had they performed as expected, would've gone pro after their second year of starting.

While it may cause some stress for '24, it would be great to see JJ perform at a level this year that sets him up as a sure-thing 1st round pick in next year's draft.

Best thing this kid could do is commit early to some school (hopefully us) and that would build a mega class that would light fools up to the tune of Voltron. Do you hear that Sparty? We are building a gigantic robot made of actual lions.

It would be amazing to get Underwood. He seems like a future 1st round pick. I think Jadyn will be great in college but Underwood has big time NFL type potential.
