Music, Queen on AXIS tv

Submitted by BIGWEENIE on August 24th, 2019 at 11:26 AM

Monday replay at 2pm of the Queen classic album, A day at the races. Something cool is when they are in the studio and this had to be around 1974 they couldn't get the sound how they wanted it to be. They asked a new little known sound guy to see what he could do. In the video he is wearing a Uof M football jersey # 73 I think sitting at the board with Freddie and Brian standing behind him . Who wore 73 back then? Sorry for the long post.

Jim Coode.

He went on to play for the Detroit Wheels. They practiced at Orchard Lake St Marys. Those were some fun times. You could see some quality football with what amounted to a sideline pass.

Thanks for posting.

It's not OT when the OP is inquiring about a Michigan jersey being worn by a production member of an iconic band like Queen.

I'm a huge Queen/Freddy Mercury fan (greatest front man in rock history, IMO) so the link to Axis TV is appreciated..... nice job using the M jersey thing to get the word out on great music.

I can dig it, Bigweenie. I'm a total nerd for music production and Queen was groundbreaking in so many ways.

Fun fact: the little "trick" they showed in Bohemian Rhapsody where Jim Beach pushed up the faders for their set was totally fabricated.

The real reason they sounded louder was for one that Trip Khalaf was just an awesome engineer and just knew how to set up the board better without a sound check than any of the other guys. For two, Queen as a band was so good live and had a rehearsed set that they could nail in their sleep and in that moment they were just that much more polished than anyone else performing at the time.

I always bought at least 2 tickets to any concert figuring I would find some one to go. At Wings I really bought the tickets to see Thin Lizzy. Queen just blew me away. At the Vegas show I went to work after and they brought in a crew of over 70. Each band member had their own limo as did their girls. Freddie was still doing the chick thing. I just found it so cool that Mike had that jersey on and wish I knew the connection if there is one. Thanks Brian.
