MSU Golfer Wins US AM

James Piot becomes the first Michigan-born golfer to win.  Anyone know if U of M recruited him or not?  Not snark, just curious.  Golf is a very unique sport.  Anyone can get hot.

Makes for a pretty cool year coming up. A colleague's son won the Amateur Championship (British amateur) several years ago. Ticket punched for The Masters, The Open and US Open.

Some guy from another school did this really cool thing. If you want more details on said guy or woman, about said activity, check out that schools’ sports blog.

Thanks, OP.  You taught me something tonight.

I understood unique to mean without equal or one of a kind.  HOWEVA, Merriam Webster begs to differ.  Third entry for unique:

3 : UNUSUAL//a very unique ball-point pen//we were fairly unique, the sixty of us, in that there wasn't one good mixer in the bunch— J. D. Salinger

Money quote from tiny tom izziot....

"Izzo actually told me a little while ago, 'It's a golf school, now.' I'm going with that."

He may be correct as it sure ain't a basketball school!

Not related to this guy, but Brendan Quinn has a great article in the Athletic about how he ended up spontaneously caddying in this year's US Amateur.
