In defense of people who keep coming back to the flu, and I'm saying this as someone who agrees that the potential damage here mostly justifies the actions so far*, I still find it annoying that people wave off something that kills tens of thousands of Americans every year as though THAT's not a big deal. Flu is a massacre every year. Because it's mostly old folks, though, we don't give it much thought after we get our vaccine. We should be pushing the meticulous hand washing/stay at home when you're sick guidance harder every year.

*(I have some major reservations about the amount of economic damage being done to the country and to individuals because I'm not hearing public officials discuss the health consequences of mass unemployment, which is quite severe by itself)

To be clear, I'm also a big proponent of getting the flu vaccine, and I always make the argument that it is not just about you, it's about protecting others.  (Something tells me there is overlap between the anti-vaxxers and the "flu is worse than coronavirus" crowds...)

There's no doubt that shutting down businesses is going to cause a lot of pain and there needs to be some compensatory governmental intervention.

Man I hate when this place talks politics. What are we trying to accomplish here? Don’t you people have families or friends you can discuss this with?

Love talking politics, but it doesn't belong here.

Chris Collins (my local representative) was just convicted of insider trading from the STOCK act.  These clowns should go to jail too.
