For MLK jr. Day: The Story of Gerald Ford and Jesse Owens

Ohio State's Jesse Owens was wronged back in 1936, and it took a Michigan Wolverine to make it right 40 years later. This is a great story if you've never heard it before, and very appropriate for today.

This is a wonderful story about PEOPLE. The Michigan-Ohio State part narrative is superfluous and largely irrelevant. It is brought into the story only to create drama. The people involved were worldly people and I suspect the issue of a football rivalry warranted at most a transient chuckle from them. Let's not make that the focus of the story.

I am prepared to be negbanged.

nah, +1

But I'd suggest the rivalry part is absolutely relevant -- especially in this day and age of piss, shit, f-bombs, and sometimes fists being thrown at Michigan fans by an all too large number of cooler-poopers... and also consider the property damage risks we have to contend with just because of the rivalry.

Why the rivalry matters is it gives context to being a decent human being matters most.

Kinda like this too:

I wish there were these types of reminders the other 364 days of the year too.

Thanks so very much for posting the link to that story about Jerry Ford, Jesse Owens, and Willis Ward.

Truly inspirational, a story for the ages.
