This will be the thread for hot takes and snowflakes about the special teams performance against Minnesota as well as coaching.

This team is operating with machine-like efficiency.

Most efficient defense ✅

Most efficient quarterback✅

Rock solid special teams✅

Least penalized team in the nation✅

Coach Harbaugh has built that beautiful cathedral of a home that he discussed and envisioned in his opening press conference back in December of 2014.

I like the cut of your jib Mr. Pete!

My GF and I watch every game together and I said to her during the game that we are so spoiled as we were both complaining about a play here or there while pounding that team and squeezing them like Boa Constrictor like Joel Klatt describes.

Also, hey MODs, update that number in the upper right, it's 995 and counting now!!!

Best coaching staff in the country, and it's not close.

Renew the contract. Give raises to the rest of the staff. Can't keep talent like this forever, but we should do our best to retain them.

Adjustments were made.  Won second half 28-0 after Minny's big play end of first.  Team plays with poise and makes very few mistakes.  Outstanding performance all the way around on the road in prime time.  Great to have Mason back, he was a beast.

Great halftime adjustments for defense and Jesse Minter had his guys shutting the door on the Minny offense. We saw a lot of that last year so fear not.

Special Teams; no issues. Jake Thaw made all of his catches so no complaints. 1-1 FG, all the extra points were made and is looking good.

We have not played a real talented team yet but this team is dominant.  This team looks like what all the other championship teams have looked like in the past. They are deep, have skilled players on both offense and defense and have a tremendous coaching staff.  I am trying not to allow my mind to get there yet, but this could be our year. Go Blue!

So dominant I almost forgot about that!

also, Morris didn’t run up under that first one and then dangerously fielded way late.

the latter worked out and the former we then stuffed them, so became forgettable.

Punting was good, but I was starting to expect amazing. This week was merely very good.

All this and no TD on ST?: slackers!

Harbaugh has built a machine. This team is ready to win with offense or defense. The balance in offense is incredible. The team is built for a deep run. One of the best developments this year is that we can win a shootout. We haven't done that yet but the coaches have built a passing game that can be tough to match.

For so long we complained about our coaching staff, and to an extent we do at times still... But if you watch the clown show going on around the country on Saturdays each week, you really get an appreciation for what smart safe fundamental decision making looks like.

Latest example. What was Miami doing???!??¡!

F as in Fail for corching.  Only getting 73 of 74 dudes a snap?  Greg Tarr you are getting on the field next week.  You can pull a Rudy and get a pick six on the last play of the game or whatever Frodos buddy does in that stupid fuckin movie.

F for Fleck.  Him and Rob Corddry were separated at birth.

Challenging the spot up 35 or whatever it was at the time is pure Harbaugh.  Remind me, does he have an issue with Fleck?  It’s hard to keep his grudges straight. :)

Speaking of Fleck, I don’t know what Kaliakmanis did to offend him, but I was shocked that he was left in there for garbage time.  It reminded me of the infamous Patrick Roy game against the Red Wings (when Roy was in Montreal).  Roy gave up something like 9 goals before his coach would pull him, and Roy basically quit on the team and demanded to be traded due to the insult.  (If the Wings had been able to see the future, I wonder if they try to keep from scoring to keep him in the East…)

Question for those of you watching on TV: did they show a clip of the student section going crazy while some idiot was beating on a “NBC Big Ten Saturday Night” (or something like that) bass drum?

If so — could you tell that it was recorded / broadcast during the national anthem?!

Absolute clown show by the NBC producer there not to either complete it before the anthem or hold it until after.

(And, yes, I know this isn’t about coaching, but nobody wanted a “broadcaster snowflakes” thread. :)

I honestly believe we have the best staff in the country.  I don't think we are the most talented team around.  The kids are just so good at responsibility football.  You aren't going to play if you don't set the edge no matter how talented you are.  You can see the light coming on for a guy like Stewart.  You have to be able to do everything to get on the field.  A lot of the guys on defense were not super highly ranked but we develop them on the field and in the weight room.  We don't commit penalties.   We are all spoiled right now. I don't think I've ever enjoyed football more.

It is a different type of talent. They are working with under the radar talent to some degree.  From 2020-2023 we have one composite 5 star (JJ and W. Johnson were close).  OSU has 13 and Georgia has 18.  That means not only can the coaches coach, they have an eye for under the radar talent.  Then the build it up in the weight room and develop it on the field.  I would argue the coaches deserve a lot more credit for the talent on the field than some team with a bunch of 5 stars.

The heavy rotation of players helps in developing depth and avoiding injuries, which are both great.  It does come with a cost, however.  In tighter games when the bench is shortened.  The best players will be playing a lot more than they are used to.  Seems like the coaches are doing a good job striking the optimal balance.

Reading comprehension is a thing.  Where did I say that the starters should play the entire game?  In fact I said, you can sit your starters too much (since I gather you have trouble understanding, this is not the same as saying you shouldn't ever rest your starters), but the coaches appear to be striking a good balance between getting them rest and getting them reps.

Best coaching staff in the country. Players are recruited, developed well, and play nasty and with an edge BUT within the rules.

Playcalling has definitely improved this year. It could be Moore, a more experienced JJ, or a combo of both -- let's go with both.

Turner seems to be improving. Doman dominant. I suppose punt returns could be improved but I'm guessing with our offense, Jim is happy with Thaw as the more conservative but safer option.

Said in another thread, but I love this team, top to bottom.

Should have gotten Tarr in the game though.
