This team is operating with machine-like efficiency.
Most efficient defense ✅
Most efficient quarterback✅
Rock solid special teams✅
Least penalized team in the nation✅
Coach Harbaugh has built that beautiful cathedral of a home that he discussed and envisioned in his opening press conference back in December of 2014.

I like the cut of your jib Mr. Pete!
My GF and I watch every game together and I said to her during the game that we are so spoiled as we were both complaining about a play here or there while pounding that team and squeezing them like Boa Constrictor like Joel Klatt describes.
Also, hey MODs, update that number in the upper right, it's 995 and counting now!!!
October 7th, 2023 at 10:46 PM ^
Love watching them
October 7th, 2023 at 10:51 PM ^
Best coaching staff in the country, and it's not close.
Renew the contract. Give raises to the rest of the staff. Can't keep talent like this forever, but we should do our best to retain them.
October 7th, 2023 at 10:53 PM ^
Adjustments were made. Won second half 28-0 after Minny's big play end of first. Team plays with poise and makes very few mistakes. Outstanding performance all the way around on the road in prime time. Great to have Mason back, he was a beast.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
Need to get the plays in on time. Snapping the ball with 10 seconds on the playclock at worst would be ideal.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:58 AM ^
Why snap with ten seconds on clock. Using that logic they'll leave close to 6 mins of possession time on a 60 play day.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
Great halftime adjustments for defense and Jesse Minter had his guys shutting the door on the Minny offense. We saw a lot of that last year so fear not.
Special Teams; no issues. Jake Thaw made all of his catches so no complaints. 1-1 FG, all the extra points were made and is looking good.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
Coaching is pretty, pretty good.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:06 PM ^
They didn’t play TARR. Unacceptable
October 7th, 2023 at 11:08 PM ^
We have not played a real talented team yet but this team is dominant. This team looks like what all the other championship teams have looked like in the past. They are deep, have skilled players on both offense and defense and have a tremendous coaching staff. I am trying not to allow my mind to get there yet, but this could be our year. Go Blue!
October 7th, 2023 at 11:10 PM ^
We kicked it out of bounds. Gotta clean that up.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:38 PM ^
So dominant I almost forgot about that!
also, Morris didn’t run up under that first one and then dangerously fielded way late.
the latter worked out and the former we then stuffed them, so became forgettable.
Punting was good, but I was starting to expect amazing. This week was merely very good.
All this and no TD on ST?: slackers!
October 8th, 2023 at 10:59 AM ^
I blame the Metrodome for the kick out of bounds. Won't happen again.
October 8th, 2023 at 12:05 PM ^
Metrodome???
October 8th, 2023 at 12:54 PM ^
I thought they played at ___insert bland regional financial institution__ Stadium?
October 7th, 2023 at 11:10 PM ^
Both looked real good
October 7th, 2023 at 11:22 PM ^
Harbaugh has this team playing with edge and control. Vey solid in every way.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:34 PM ^
Very disappointed that the backup long snapper didn’t get into the game !!! Oh yeah fuck notre shame now and forever may Marcus Faust continue to coach forever!!!
October 7th, 2023 at 11:40 PM ^
Justice for Greg Tarr!!
October 8th, 2023 at 1:24 PM ^
Lolz. I can't remember ever watching a game where they singled out one poor kid (BY NAME!) on the bench that didn't get into the game.
October 7th, 2023 at 11:52 PM ^
Harbaugh has built a machine. This team is ready to win with offense or defense. The balance in offense is incredible. The team is built for a deep run. One of the best developments this year is that we can win a shootout. We haven't done that yet but the coaches have built a passing game that can be tough to match.
October 8th, 2023 at 1:55 AM ^
I have seen 0 evidence that we could win a shootout. Just like last year, and it bit us in the ass. We take 29 seconds to run a play every down
October 8th, 2023 at 9:12 AM ^
Have you considered that that game flow is actually designed to prevent a shootout?
And we scored 52 points in the game man. Yeah we could lose one of 87-80 games I guess.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:36 AM ^
I see 0 evidence we'll get into a shootout...
We have a guy with highest QBR rating in the country with a 77% completion ratio so if we did get into one I see 0 evidence we'll lose it.
October 8th, 2023 at 12:15 PM ^
The way you win shootouts is by holding serve and generating turnovers. How have you not seen evidence this team could do that, were it to become necessary?
October 8th, 2023 at 12:53 AM ^
For so long we complained about our coaching staff, and to an extent we do at times still... But if you watch the clown show going on around the country on Saturdays each week, you really get an appreciation for what smart safe fundamental decision making looks like.
Latest example. What was Miami doing???!??¡!
October 8th, 2023 at 7:44 AM ^
Cocaine, that’s what Miami was doing
October 8th, 2023 at 1:01 AM ^
Guys have fun, I love seeing that.
October 8th, 2023 at 4:02 AM ^
F as in Fail for corching. Only getting 73 of 74 dudes a snap? Greg Tarr you are getting on the field next week. You can pull a Rudy and get a pick six on the last play of the game or whatever Frodos buddy does in that stupid fuckin movie.
F for Fleck. Him and Rob Corddry were separated at birth.
October 8th, 2023 at 5:13 AM ^
Challenging the spot up 35 or whatever it was at the time is pure Harbaugh. Remind me, does he have an issue with Fleck? It’s hard to keep his grudges straight. :)
Speaking of Fleck, I don’t know what Kaliakmanis did to offend him, but I was shocked that he was left in there for garbage time. It reminded me of the infamous Patrick Roy game against the Red Wings (when Roy was in Montreal). Roy gave up something like 9 goals before his coach would pull him, and Roy basically quit on the team and demanded to be traded due to the insult. (If the Wings had been able to see the future, I wonder if they try to keep from scoring to keep him in the East…)
October 8th, 2023 at 10:13 AM ^
Harbaugh challenged that spot because he was right, and that's all that should matter.
October 8th, 2023 at 12:55 PM ^
I don’t necessarily disagree, but (a) the game had long been decided, and (b) everyone knows that they almost never overturn spots. It was entirely unnecessary. :)
October 8th, 2023 at 5:16 AM ^
Question for those of you watching on TV: did they show a clip of the student section going crazy while some idiot was beating on a “NBC Big Ten Saturday Night” (or something like that) bass drum?
If so — could you tell that it was recorded / broadcast during the national anthem?!
Absolute clown show by the NBC producer there not to either complete it before the anthem or hold it until after.
(And, yes, I know this isn’t about coaching, but nobody wanted a “broadcaster snowflakes” thread. :)
October 8th, 2023 at 9:15 AM ^
Didn't notice, but there was plenty of NBC buffoonery to witness anyway.
October 8th, 2023 at 6:54 AM ^
I honestly believe we have the best staff in the country. I don't think we are the most talented team around. The kids are just so good at responsibility football. You aren't going to play if you don't set the edge no matter how talented you are. You can see the light coming on for a guy like Stewart. You have to be able to do everything to get on the field. A lot of the guys on defense were not super highly ranked but we develop them on the field and in the weight room. We don't commit penalties. We are all spoiled right now. I don't think I've ever enjoyed football more.
October 8th, 2023 at 9:31 AM ^
If you don’t think this team is talented, you may have to stop thinking. You don’t win by these margins of victory with coaching alone.
October 8th, 2023 at 1:27 PM ^
It is a different type of talent. They are working with under the radar talent to some degree. From 2020-2023 we have one composite 5 star (JJ and W. Johnson were close). OSU has 13 and Georgia has 18. That means not only can the coaches coach, they have an eye for under the radar talent. Then the build it up in the weight room and develop it on the field. I would argue the coaches deserve a lot more credit for the talent on the field than some team with a bunch of 5 stars.
October 8th, 2023 at 9:21 AM ^
The heavy rotation of players helps in developing depth and avoiding injuries, which are both great. It does come with a cost, however. In tighter games when the bench is shortened. The best players will be playing a lot more than they are used to. Seems like the coaches are doing a good job striking the optimal balance.
October 8th, 2023 at 10:19 AM ^
So our worry is that our players will be TOO fresh and uninjured? Michigan fans: always looking for the dark underbelly!
October 8th, 2023 at 10:45 AM ^
As I said, being fresh and uninjured is great. But you need to have enough game reps and need to be able to play when tired. So, yes you can be too fresh.
October 8th, 2023 at 11:11 AM ^
So you rather let your starters play the entire game in a blowout so they can risk injury on a fluke play instead of developing your team by letting them get reps?
October 8th, 2023 at 11:15 AM ^
Reading comprehension is a thing. Where did I say that the starters should play the entire game? In fact I said, you can sit your starters too much (since I gather you have trouble understanding, this is not the same as saying you shouldn't ever rest your starters), but the coaches appear to be striking a good balance between getting them rest and getting them reps.
October 8th, 2023 at 11:43 AM ^
So u complaining just to complain then because u want game reps but you also don't want the players to be too fresh. So maybe, we can win the next game in a dog fight so the guys can be battle tested and experience having a not too fresh game.
October 8th, 2023 at 12:06 PM ^
Man, reading really is an issue for you. Complaining??? I said "the coaches are doing a good job striking the optimal balance" between rest/reps.
October 8th, 2023 at 2:26 PM ^
Yes u did, but I didn't reply to that response
October 8th, 2023 at 11:59 AM ^
Game experience is and always will be valuable. But I believe endurance, cardio, strength and stamina are primarily developed in practice and the weight room, especially in football.
You simply can't get the physical attributes you need to play football by playing football.
October 8th, 2023 at 3:31 PM ^
No, the COST comes in playing the starters too deep into games that are decided. As in, Mike Morris versus Nebraska last year.
Bad take.
October 8th, 2023 at 7:46 PM ^
Best coaching staff in the country. Players are recruited, developed well, and play nasty and with an edge BUT within the rules.
Playcalling has definitely improved this year. It could be Moore, a more experienced JJ, or a combo of both -- let's go with both.
Turner seems to be improving. Doman dominant. I suppose punt returns could be improved but I'm guessing with our offense, Jim is happy with Thaw as the more conservative but safer option.
Said in another thread, but I love this team, top to bottom.
Should have gotten Tarr in the game though.
