Marcus Carr’s next college stop will be his third one since he graduated in 2017 from Florida’s Montverde Academy where he was a teammate and friend of former Dukie, current New York Knick and fellow Toronto native RJ Barrett. He began at Pitt before he transferred to Minnesota.

My first thought for Carr’s destination was Duke. If Barrett steers Carr to Duke, then Carr would be competing for playing time with two highly-rated guards who’ll be sophomores next season, DJ Steward and Jeremy Roach.

My second thought for Carr’s destination was Syracuse (a) because it’s closer to Toronto than Duke is and (b), if he’d be eligible immediately, then he’d likely become the starting point guard because current starter Joseph Girard is just not as good as Carr and Syracuse doesn’t have any other true point guards on its roster or among its current recruits.

You are correct, sir! BUT, my choice of Syracuse for Carr's next stop is based only on the factors I mentioned.

After more than a year of living under various COVID-19 restrictions that have been stressful for many college athletes, it seemed like living in Syracuse, within a four-hour drive from Toronto, might make it worthwhile for Carr to be closer to home during his final season of college basketball.

I also see that Ann Arbor isn't that much further away from Toronto than Syracuse.

Marcus Carr scores ~19 ppg but he shoot 38% from the field. Yuck.

If Carr changes his game to be more balanced (like Mike Smith did), then I think he would be a better fit for us.

But given an option between a 2nd year of Mike Smith and 1 year of Marcus Carr, I'll take Smith. I think Smith would be even better in his 2nd season in Coach Howard's flexible system.
