Mignery, Morris support Hoke on Gameday

Submitted by Cold War on

Unfortunately, their view didn't fit the four letter network's agenda for today and they were cut off after a short sound bite. This is consistent with the pattern of support from former players that Bacon alluded to on WTKA the other day.

I put stock in their opinions. They know and care about the program.

The evidence supports Howard's view.  By the way, it is very tough to separate Hoke the person from Hoke the coach.  He is a very nice man, but not a good coach.

105 players aren't a collect group of ants that decide as a collective unit to instinctively perform assigned tasks.  They are 105 human beings that have to be molded into cohesive units, each one of which needs individual attention and guidance to perform to the utmost of their ability on a very consistent basis.  In short they need leadership and at the college level they need adult leadership, and that is always, without exception, provided by the head coach.  That doesn't prohibit or mean others can't be leaders, they can, but their leadership is to further the goals and leadership of the head coach.  If the HC either not willing to or incapable of providing that leadership, he's got to go.

The team can still redeem itself. Morris and Mignery know this which is why they have voiced support for Hoke.

I doubt that this team will do so, but I understand where Morris and Mignery are coming from.

This team displays every element of a poorly prepared and coached team that you can think of. In year 4 of a coaching tenure you should start seeing fruits of the labor, instead all we see is regression on all levels. I still support Coach Hoke and will until such time he is no longer the coach. But to say I see any progress would not be accurate.

Most of the comments were vague and along the line of "we don't want to be one of those teams that change coaches every four years" and "he will get it right eventually" (bold and specific prediction Morris!).

Andy seems like a great guy from a distance, but I've never heard him say anything truly interesting about Michigan football.

As for Morris, he always looks momentarily stunned when someone throws a non-standard question at him (one where standard cliches aren't a good response).

Does Mignery have a radio show or a platform or something?  He's been referenced before, and I find it so odd that a random QB-turned-blocking-TE is somehow a significant voice for former players.

Enough chances.  We hired a mediocre coach and he has performed to expectation.  Every week the guy is terribly outcoached and these kids deserve better.  Time for some accountability starting with the head coach.

Quoted "Hoke is the heartbeat of this team"

Hardened arteries full of plaque and one little debbie away from being rushed into a quadruple bypass?

Yep, I think that heartbeat of the team quote was pretty damn accurate.

Screw Mignery, he goes on the radio every week and flat out blames the players every time. He talks about a lack of "leadership " from the players and parrots the exicution bs as much as hoke. I could care less what that snappy says about hoke.
