And get their act together..That was pathetic on so many levels..Each player needs to make 1000 Free throws during the next week..that was UNACCEPTABLE for a tournament team...Im glad as hell we won but mad as hell and how bad they were

Ok so let's talk about the problems in a reasonable manner.

1. Lack of a scoring, leader point guard. Pretty much the engine that makes Michigan go every year. Morris, Burke, Walton, etc.

2. No inside offensive presence. Mo can't back anyone down, so when teams switch on screens, it really doesn't benefit us at all. DJ last year could take advantage of the little guys, but I don't think Mo can.

3. FREE THROWS. Nuff said

4. Charles Matthews. Kinda a guy that doesn't really mesh with the offense. Can't shoot well, missing layups a ton recently. I appreciate his rebounding and defense (good for a couple putbacks per game too), but the offense dies with the ball in his hands.

5. End of game coaching. Been a long term problem with Beilein, and free throw troubles have exacerbated it. Lost to Purdue at home, against LSU, should've lost to Maryland, and could've lost today.

6. Very streaky shooting. Seems like they either all make them, or they all miss. No one has really been a steady scoring option all year. Duncan could drill them last year, but has been so down this year.

We have our troubles like every team, but I do think the present and future is bright. Don't doubt Beilein.

I was at the game. I get all the complaints on how the team played but the referees were absolute garbage towards Michigan. Also, fans at the game for the most part do not seem fond of Zavier. The guy was a black hole from three until the end.

I am coaching 8 th grade
Boys and the first thing I teach is how to find ( straight ) the middle of the Front of rim . That way you have chance for the shooters roll . We are missing right and left . Let them shoot 100 on their knees til they start making
Them without any legs involved and then stand up and shoot 100.

This team has not fired on all cyllendars minus the Michigan State and Purdue games. Duncan Robinson has been off mostly all year. Livers has gone quiet and Poole as well. I know this sounds weird, but I am almost excited that we haven't hit our full potential lately and continue to win games. If this team starts shooting at a high percentage (which I believe they can) we can hang with anyone in the country. Just get this thing goign 100% by March and keep winning no matter how we are doing it. 19-6 is just fine and I will be thrilled with a 5 seed or higher in a "rebuild" year.

I can't believe the hate for Coach in this thread at times. The dude just wins games, finds guys that other schools pass over, puts guys in the NBA, keeps the program super clean, and as i said wins games...

Agreed.

Terrible FT shooting, but I don't get the guys saying we "deserved to lose". Did Minn deserve to win? All they did was mug the crap out of us and chuck up garbage shots that miraculously went in. This was a slopfest on both sides and I'm just glad Michigan survived.

Still, 5/19 in the 2nd half is horrible and I'm afraid it's gonna come back to bite us. This team could be so, so good if they'd just make their FT's. They did against MSU and it made for a beautiful game to watch. The ceiling is real high for this team, but the floor is also very low if they shoot FT's like they did today.

I agree.  Everyone questioning why they aren't shooting more freethrows in practice or blaming the coach for poor free throw shooting? Come on. He is a shooters coach.  Runs a shooters offense. You really think they aren't working on it? What should he do go out there and shoot them for them?

Of all the years he has been here, this has not been a real problem until now.

We did not put the game away in regulation. I was also at the game - Crisler was almost filled and the crowd support was great. Free throw percentage should be above 70%.
