Michigan sports has a lot going on today - the schedule

Ok, so I'm a bit of a Michigan sports stan, but saw that we have a pretty busy day in Michigan sports today.

12:00 PM ET

  • #2 ranked and 3-seeded Field Hockey hosts Miami (OH) in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Phyllis Ocker Field.
  • #12 Men's and #12 Women's Cross Country are running the Great Lakes Regional in Evansville, IN. Both can automatically qualify for Nationals if they place in the top 2, or roll the dice on an at large berth. The women are riding a 19 year streak of qualifying for nationals.

6:00 PM ET

  • Big Ten Champion, 9th ranked, and #2 seed Women's Soccer will host Bowling Green in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at UM Soccer Stadium. The game will stream live on NCAA.com

7:00 PM ET

  • As we all know, Hockey plays @ Penn State tonight after a crushing 5-1 victory last night. The game will be on BTN+. Boo.
  • But that's not the only match against PSU this weekend. Michigan volleyball is hosting #15 PSU at Cliff Keen Arena tonight in their Pink Match. PSU is really good, but struggling a little this season, lagging behind usual suspects Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Nebraska, but also Purdue and osu (all 5 are in the top 11, with NU-L surprisingly bringing up the rear). It would be great to see senior Paige Jones go out with a win in what will likely be her final match against PSU. Also on BTN+. Whatevs.

You mean copyrighted. There's no conceivable way that the post could be a trademark violation, even if the image was a registered trademark (such as the OSU logo), since there's no likelihood of confusion as to the source of goods or services.

And it's really not a could, the image is almost certainly copyrighted, although the scope of the protection is likely small, and the chance that the owner would find out and bother to ask the poster to stop even smaller.

Ho-lee crap. That's an insane ending sequence!

Game is 60 minutes long. Michigan was down 2-1 with 1:02 to go. Michigan scored the equalized with 1:01 to go. They somehow got the ball right back and scored the go-ahead goal with :02 left on the clock. INSANE.

You can't script this stuff. Gotta feel bad for Miami, but wow, that's one majorly gutsy comeback by Michigan. GO BLUE!

Yeah, for the entire second half it felt like one of those hockey games against Air Force where we are outshooting them by a mile but it just wouldn't go in.  One off the post in the third, another off the crossbar in the fourth, just seemed like one of those games.  Once we tied it though, it was just a question of whether we would score again in regulation or OT or have to go to a shootout.  What a great way to end it.

Both men and womens cross country finished third in their respective regionals today. They will hope for an at large birth to the ncaa championship now. Oddly enough, the top five finish in both men and women was identical:

1. Notre dame

2. wisconsin

3. Michigan

4. msu

5. butler

3rd will get in for men and women. Great Lakes region almost always has the greatest team depth. Often top 4-5 get in from Great Lakes.

This year, Butler men took 5th. But they also  beat Georgetown in Big East. Georgetown took 2nd in the Mid Atlantic region for an automatic. The selection committee looks at stuff like that seriously. I'm confident 4 will get in from Great Lakes men and maybe Butler as a 5th.

I don’t get how Liberty became nationally relevant in multiple sports in just the last decade. I know theyve got all sorts of money from online school, but its suspicious. Who wants to go to a conservative christian school in the middle of nowhere with no historic success in anything. Fishy
