Best decision for all parties involved.  Glad the AD decided to do the right thing and keep the contract local.  Should never have gone to a Texas-based company in the first place.

...so much sense on so many levels.  Not the least of which is that U-M should be supporting local businesses to the greatest degree possible.  M-Den's bread and butter is Michigan, so they have no choice but to cater to Michigan fans and the University.

if you drive by the south west side of the big house you'll see an MDen for women inside the gates. its been up for at least a month now.

Just another reason he's awesome.

"Bill did WHAT with merchandise contract! Screw that! Call those stupid smucks up and tell them they're fired! Let me know when the legal aspect is taken care of and we can get a new... where am I going? I need a new hat, so I'm stepping out for a minute to go down to MDen and buy one."

Edit: Also, very funny how the piece on MGoBlue makes absolutely no manetion of the fact that they were the official partner in the years before 2009. Embarassed much?

If you have the help of half the football team, you might end up beating up a whole bunch of nerds.

Also: I have never had Five Guys, but I hear they're supposed to be great and terrible for you. Double plus! Now, I just wish we'd get some Jack in the Boxes back in the area.

Hey, given that I live where Five Guys started in Virginia, I love the place. But if we're going to give love to MDen for being local, why not give love to Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger?

Reasons to favor Blimpy's besides being local:

1) Availability of Onion Rings

2) Additional options for grease: fried egg, multiple patties

3) Choice of cheese

4) Additional fried options

Never ordered from the Texas place...I got all my stuff from MDen last year and am glad the Athletic Department pulled their head out of their ass on this one. Brandon (whether he was in charge of this move or not I am still giving him credit for it) continues to say and do all the right things....lets hope this continues

I'm happy that:

1) This is happening

2) We managed to make it through this thread without someone using the expression "brick and mortar."

But where was all this loyalty when people were trampling children to order off the new place's (going out of business, it turns out) sales?  At least, till they found out they suck, and took forever to get it, if they ever did, correctly. Looks like the people at the AA.com link for the burgers complaining about Shaman Drum being gone...but never really shopped there. (Which DOES excite me.  Can never have too many good burger places).

Never ordered from the new place, and now never will.  And happy for it.

Great to have the apparel contract back in Ann Arbor, but don't forget about the MGoStore, UGP and Moes!

Something we are starting soon (now) is rewarding active readers of MGoBlog with discounts hidden in the comments of threads.

We are launching a new Moes website (its in beta now) and for the next 2 days (until 6/24), there is an active discount code for 20% off all purchases at:

http://www.ugpmichiganapparel.com

http://moe.undergroundshirts.com (beta)

http://www.mgoblogstore.com

The code is: ufr20

Enjoy!

with the "Women's" link on that site.

For the record, I would like Space, Bitches, Space, Mascots, and at least one of the Heisman ones.

And idea I've had for a while: Put the Mascots print on the back of one of the maize HAIL American Apparel Vnecks you have in the store. I'd pay the extra whatever you'd charge for that.

hitting all the right notes so far as AD.  He cleaned up Martin's mess on this apparel deal.  Hate to say it, but he may have to do the same with the football coach.

It was a shotgun wedding between Martin and Rich Rod.  The guy has been nailed for the first NCAA sanctions in our history and has gotten rolled by the likes of Illinois and Purdue, let alone Ohio State and Michigan State.  I want success for our football program as much as the next guy, but I have a bad feeling that this isn't going to work out.  If I'm "penalized" with the loss of MGoPoints for my opinion, so be it.
