Oh man this is awesome. Their D as a unit has been mediocre for years. A part of that was coaching and a part was talent. Hopefully they can eliminate some of the mental errors and start breaking the puck out better as well. Elite talent and a new coaching style should drastically improve both of those areas. Exciting times for Michigan hockey fans.

This inspired me to look at this year's roster, and I think Michigan is going to have some tough decisions about who to scratch, assuming everyone is healthy.  Just spitballing a line chart, I got this:

Dexter Dancs - Cooper Marody - Tony Calderone
Josh Norris - Adam Winborg - Will Lockwood
Brendan Warren - Jake Slaker - Jack Becker
Michael Pastujov - Nick Pastujov - Alex Roos

Sam Piazza - Joseph Cecconi
Quinn Hughes - Luke Martin
Griffin Luce - Nicholas Boka

And with those 18, Michigan still needs to find room for Cutler Martin, who also deserves to be out there and can play either LW or LD.  This also means scratching Dakota Raabe, Niko Porikos, James Sanchez, Christian Meike and Steven Merl.  Certainly Sanchez should be able to find ice time as well.

Nothing too Earth-shattering at the top, but impressive depth.  I will be happy this year with a Big Ten first round playoff series in Yost, and am looking forward to 2018/19.
