Michigan Football to participate in "mega-camp" at Miami University (NTM)?

This was recently tweeted out by the official Miami football twitter account today. Looked around for a similar announcement from Michigan, but couldn't find anything. Anyone have any extra information on the event or which coaches from Michigan are participating? Maybe we could give them a jpeg of the official Block M to use instead of the split M

One school does not look like the rest just sayin...why would we participate with MAC schools?  Wouldn't these camps draw talent that we usually wouldn't recruit?

If it’s like a satellite camp, there are plenty of kids who will never see a college field at any level. (I think it was $20 to attend one of the M satellite camps a few years ago. Lots of kids attended; not all were good players—even at their HS.) There might be a handful of guys M would look at, but there are plenty of guys who might be good fits at Dayton and Wittenberg, so it’s great for a lot of HS players.

For M, I think it’s more about visibility, building relationships with HS coaches, good PR, seeing younger players earlier, etc.

+1.  Literally anyone can show up there.

It's a win-win situation honestly: Michigan is a name that in itself will draw more talent to the camp.  Southwest Ohio is talent-rich and in a neighboring state, Pitt & U-M want to build relationships with HS coaches there.  And none of those schools really compete with one each other that directly.

Strategy for starting to make some progress in Ohio?  At the least, it could help them find under the radar guys or develop relationships with HS staffs.

It’s funny that Miami University (there is Miami University and then University of Miami, so I’m unsure why “NTM” is used) doesn’t want to be known as “Miami of Ohio,” yet their twitter as “MiamiOH” in the handle. ?

I actually spent two years at Miami University before transferring to Michigan. The names are different like you said, but most people don't know which one is which, so the NTM and YTM is helpful so you don't have to remember which university goes by what, you just know whether you're talking about the one relevant to college football or not

As for not wanting to go by "Miami of Ohio", nobody refers to the school as such on campus because it's unnecessary to specify when you're literally at the school. But at least for me, I always include the "Ohio" part when I'm not in Oxford, because 99 out of 100 times people will think you're talking about the school in Florida unless you specify differently

I'm a Miami graduate and this is a good move considering all the great football played in southern Ohio. Jim's idol Bo came from Miami and is still widely loved in the Oxford community. There may even be a guest appearance from John Harbaugh who played at Miami and was recently inducted into the Cradle of Coaches.
