Michigan Favored by 30.5 vs. Colorado State
Michigan is favored by 30.5 pts over CSU right now at Caesars Sportsbook. The odds are all in that range. Other lines of interest:
Michigan State by 22 over Western Michigan.
Ohio State by 17.5 over Notre Dame (it opened at 13.5).
Penn State by 3.5 over Purdue.
Georgia by 17 over Oregon.

That .5 is crucial.

New law --- every point-spread should have a hook on it (unless it's a Pick-Em, which would be allowed for college games). No more pushes ever again.

Ohio state by 30
August 29th, 2022 at 3:24 PM ^
I think so too. New QB(yikes!), new HC(could be yikes!) and an extremely angry OSU team. I just don't see ND keeping this close, Day will want to make an immediate statement.
August 29th, 2022 at 6:05 PM ^
He gonna hang 100 on em?
August 29th, 2022 at 6:12 PM ^
So angry you might even call them feverish!
August 30th, 2022 at 9:11 AM ^
A raging blizzard of anger.
August 29th, 2022 at 3:26 PM ^
I agree with this. Freeman keeps running his mouth about OSU for some odd reason so there is a lot of bulletin board material up there next to "Born on 3rd base..."
August 29th, 2022 at 9:27 PM ^
I will give Freeman the (slight) benefit of the doubt and assume his shot at OSU's online courses and overall academic profile was intended to also spur on change at ND to help his recruiting efforts, because otherwise I have no idea why you even try to throw shade at OSU like that. Yes, I absolutely believe that OSU doesn't care much about the academic side of their football players' lives, but that's probably true at a lot of schools. And if memory serves me right didn't Brian Kelly have two separate spats of academic impropriety at ND that caused multiple seasons to be invalidated? So maybe that's a class house Freeman should exit before looking for some stones.
August 29th, 2022 at 3:59 PM ^
I agree with OSU easily covering 17.5 points. That game is a tall order for a first year HC.
August 29th, 2022 at 8:09 PM ^
If it's not snowing and the entire OSU team doesn't have the flu, they obviously win in convincing fashion.

That's a big number for OSU/ND. Perhaps looking for suckers to take ND and the points, and I generally agree ND is a bit overrated, but still -- they are a top 15 team at minimum.
August 29th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
It's September Ohio State too. I do not see them covering that.
August 31st, 2022 at 8:06 AM ^
Solid point about September. Nobody knows anything right now.
August 29th, 2022 at 2:08 PM ^
What's the biggest-ever spread in this scenario (two teams ranked three positions apart in the first AP poll)? 17.5 points is impressively large.
August 29th, 2022 at 9:28 PM ^
Yeah, that's a big number for what could well be a slow-motion blowout but still one where ND doesn't lose by 3 scores.
August 29th, 2022 at 1:38 PM ^
Considering the QB competition, that 30.5 may end up being a bit low...
August 29th, 2022 at 1:49 PM ^
we 'bout to get Biblical
August 29th, 2022 at 2:08 PM ^
Contrast that to the boring early-season games of past regimes (and this one, too, sometimes).
August 29th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
The Georgia/ Oregon and the OSU/Notre Dame games will be closer than 17 points IMO
August 29th, 2022 at 1:45 PM ^
I don't gamble but:
Mich
MSU
Oregon
ND
PSU
August 29th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
I cannot see Oregon sticking with Georgia. I'd predict a 40+ point win for Georgia sooner than I'd predict a <14 point win.
August 29th, 2022 at 3:34 PM ^
That's what everyone is going to say, which I hate to say it, makes me think Ohio State and Georgia both win in blowouts.
August 29th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
Michigan 52, CSU 13
August 29th, 2022 at 8:11 PM ^
Depending on how, I suppose, but I’ll be disappointed and maybe concerned if CSU scores 13, even with third string D in there.
August 29th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
Damn, I took Notre Dame when it was @ +14.5 as that was the same line given to Oregon last year. Wish I have waited, I thought it would go down...Bad Omen for me.
August 29th, 2022 at 8:18 PM ^
Brutal.
I took OSU at 14.5. Will take ND at 17.5.
Hoping its a 15-17 point game and can win both :)
Otherwise it's a wash and just paying the fee.
August 29th, 2022 at 2:00 PM ^
They have one of the weakest schedules in NCAA so this is not surprising.
August 29th, 2022 at 2:02 PM ^
Got in yesterday on Fan Duel at 27.5. Woo hoo
August 29th, 2022 at 2:05 PM ^
Well done - I knew line would move immediately after Harbaugh said alternating first game starters will be compared by points per possession (and said as much a few times on the board). Cade and company have every incentive to drop 63 on Saturday.
August 29th, 2022 at 2:03 PM ^
That's a lot of points... Historically, Michigan doesn't cover spreads like these very often due to a number of reasons. Top among them is the (historical and current) coach's propensity to run a slow offense (play clock = 0) and 'work' on the running game. No sense in risking turnovers via fast paced action or slinging the ball around, right?
But neither of those reasons seem to be in play this year - we expect a pass heavy, fast-paced offense because of the weapons we have. Of course, we've expected that for a number of years now...
But there was last year!
But history weighs heavy...
Ugh, take the points, or not? ... ... ... Nope. Can't do it.
Make me a believer in big point spreads, Coach!!!
August 29th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
"Historically, Michigan doesn't cover spreads ..."
That seems like the case. I'd love to see some stats.
August 29th, 2022 at 5:10 PM ^
Last season, Michigan had four spreads of at least 20 points; they covered three of them:
- Northern Illinois (63-10): W -26.5
- Rutgers (20-13): L -20
- Northwestern (33-7): W -23.5
- Indiana (29-7): W -21
August 29th, 2022 at 3:12 PM ^
We seem to fall for the "this will be a pass heavy offense" almost every single year. Im not holding my breath. Especially if during one of our earlier "pass happy" games we have some issues.
August 29th, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
Same here. I don't bet on Michigan games anyway due to all of your valid points in a "Gimme" game.
August 29th, 2022 at 2:06 PM ^
If -30.5 is the spread vs the (what looks like on paper) most competent team we play in the OOC, my guess is the UConn game is one of those death spreads in the 40s
August 29th, 2022 at 10:31 PM ^
Vanderbilt traveled to Hawaii and whooped their ass. 63-10.
VANDERBILT.
Michigan legitimately could put up 100 against them.
August 29th, 2022 at 2:07 PM ^
That spread is too big. I prefer Michigan comes in as the underdog, because of course, obviously, they'll play harder and better because of it. Let them earn being favored by the end of the season.

I am hitting the UM cover and the Penn St cover. This is September James Franklin, so they'll come out & blow out by Purdue by 10+
August 29th, 2022 at 2:09 PM ^
Michigan -30.5 is a lock
August 29th, 2022 at 2:12 PM ^
I’ll take the under on Michigan
August 29th, 2022 at 2:17 PM ^
Take the over. Each QB has a one game playoff. Take the freaking over on points, yards, INTs, passing plays, QBs taking hits while running for an extra 3-4 yards. Football!
August 29th, 2022 at 3:13 PM ^
Harbaugh said each QB was going to start one game, not that each was going to get the entirety of one game.
August 29th, 2022 at 2:18 PM ^
U-M vs CSU: Over, probably by halftime.
OH State v ND, The Fighting Irish could be that sneaky awful good team this season, under and ND could get the upset.
Penn State v Purdue: Could be that close, its a push.
GA v OR: Under as the Bulldogs lost a lot of starters from last season.

Boiler Up. Glad it is a Thursday night game. Only three more sleeps.

I think OSU covers that before the 4th quarter. This is the same ND outfit that should've lost to Toledo last year.
Oregon can run the ball and UGA is replacing a lot. Plus, their HC knows a lil' bit about UGA.
August 29th, 2022 at 2:35 PM ^
Don’t see MSU, or Georgia covering
