Michigan fabric

So my wife has been sewing and donating face masks, in light of coronavirus. I would like to find navy fabric with a block M. I know I've seen this used in things like caps/hats for surgeons. Can any of you point me to where I can find and this fabric? Yes, I know that Google is my friend. However, I've done a search in several ways, and haven't come up with anything.

For instance, here is a link:  https://www.collegefabricstore.com/university-of-michigan/ None of these are what I'm looking for.

I could see this working one of two ways:

  1. Navy fabric with small maize "M." LINK: https://www.fanatics.com/college/michigan-wolverines/michigan-wolverines-prep-tie/o-27+t-56535042+p-12951620298+z-8-2119744896
  2. Navy fabric with a single medium sized maize "M."

Thanks in advance for any links or sources. I live in the Chicago area, which is less likely to have this kind of fabric then say Ann Arbor or even the Detroit area.

I'm a professional upholsterer and would recommend using dark blue cotton canvas with a spot for a carbon filter liner (these are cheap at hardware stores) and sew a patch onto the front.

Yeah, there are plenty of articles out there on the best type of fabric (stay away from loose weaves, linens, fleece, etc.) and filters (they say hepa furnace filters are actually the best, although it takes a little work to take them out, iron, and cut them to shape). I really like the patch idea.

I'm not sure how much fabric you need, but could you buy Michigan scrubs or pajama pants and make masks out of those? Could be easier than finding the fabric you're looking for.

My dream hobby is sewing. I even read a review on singer 4452 and already bought it but because of the coronavirus I do not make things I like. I'm focused on sewing face masks. They don't look great but at least they perform as intended.
