96-11 vote.
“We have lost confidence in the ability of President Lou Anna K. Simon to lead a transparent investigation, to implement changes that will ensure it never happens again, to protect students, and to lead Michigan State University forward,” the resolution says.

The bandwagon's rolling, and now everyone looking to get a political or media "push" from the Nassar-Simon Scandal is looking to get a seat before Lou Anna Simon (finally) does something right with respect to this tragedy and resigns.

Both of Michigan's U.S. Senators (Stabenow and Peters) just called for Simon's resignation.

Is there a way to find out the 11 that voted nay?
January 24th, 2018 at 7:09 PM ^
It was a recorded vote, so the information is a matter of public record. It gets published in the journal of proceedings, which goes up on the internet in the next 24 hours or so. Watch this space; I will post the list when it's available.
Or click here to see if they have posted the House Journal from 1/24/2018 yet.

How on Earth can anyone with a conscience believe this woman should lead anything? I hope all 11 have to answer to their constituents. Good luck fundraising

The one person that I cannot believe has been absent in Mark Hollis, yet if I think about how MSU has handled this to date, it seems totally predictable that he as well is buying into the school that somehow this is just a really rough wave that they can just ride in, land on the beach and go about their business. The people who needed to speak have done so badly, and still others that need to speak remain conspicuously silent among the administration. It's amazing and sad simultaneously.

Including the statement from Dianne Byrum below. Seems an odd statement, given apparently Simon had her support just a few days ago....Quite a goddamned change of heart. Cockroaches are running everywhere.
“It is clear that the public has lost confidence in the current administration of Michigan State University, and changes are needed to move the university forward.
First, I support the resignation of President Simon, effective immediately, and I support the investigation by the Attorney General that will provide a full accounting of what happened and take an important step toward restoring trust, which has understandably been shaken.
Second, I am disgusted by the abhorrent comments made earlier this week by Trustee Joel Ferguson, who does not speak for other members of the MSU Board in any way.
Unfortunately, through this terrible situation, the university has been tone deaf, unresponsive, unapologetic and insensitive to the victims. As a woman who has always fought for womens’ rights and victims’ rights, and encouraged women in all areas, it is deeply troubling to me that so much pain and suffering has been caused by my alma mater.
A full public accounting, top to bottom, is long overdue and I support it, along with a change in the current administration and a change to the culture at Michigan State University. We owe it to the victims, the public and ourselves to do the right thing and let the healing begin.”

On the money HHW. Resign when the fewest amount of news people are watching will be the strategy. Trouble for MSU, this was on the national network news tonight and if you watched any of the press conference with the survivors, they are just getting started. And good for them. Ain't nobody gonna tell them that nobody knew, those ladies know better and will have teams of capable people on board to help them tip over every last stone in EL and with USAG.
I think MSU was hoping all the anger and focus would remain with Nassar. They miscalculated and we are now going to see the fallout from their underestimating these incredible young women.

Still baffling to me these people are asking her to resign "because the public lost faith in her" and not because she didn't fucking do her job, and allowed sexual assaults to occur on her campus for many years.

I am far from an attorney, but I suspect they are steering clear of any direct language like that as lawsuits are certain to come and so statements like "she hasn't done her job on this issue" would likely lead to legal jeopardy for the author.
I am with you fan21 as Simon has clearly not done her job, or at least been very shitty at her job.
My real problem with the statement is the first paragaph where she includes the University administration is basically at fault. Is she herself not part of that administration?? Technically, she is probably not considered an "administrator" as a Trustee, but in reality she has some ownership in all of this.

and she's gone. Seems like the tide has turned strongly against her. Anyone who hopes to endure on teh BOT should be leading the Torch and Pitchfork Committee to her house, and right soon.
