I think he timed the release to maximize the attention. If he had waited until signing day or after to release this (which is the logical time to do so), it would've gotten lost among the coverage of the signing day decisions and the Signing of the Stars event.

The whole thing has backfired on him because what he delivered didn't come close to matching the hype.

On YouTube below the video click SHARE then click EMBED and then copy the link. When you click back to MGoBlog be sure to SWITCH TO PLAIN TEXT EDITOR using the link above the save button. Paste the link and then save.

With .gifs you just right click and copy like you would a regular picture and then paste into the regular text/post space like you would any other message.

I'm far more upset that the hype video sucks than he "tricked" me or "overhyped" something.

Some of you are way to emotional about this...you know when people are announcing, it's not like something major was going to happen tonight that he knew about but noooooo one else did. That's silly.

But the video just isn't a good one, the idea is cool...but the execution is too hard because we have no idea who any of these guys are. It took me half the video to realize that the names are in the bottom right corner and half the high school level/non-HD film sucks.

Personally, I would've done much more to highlight which player was in each clip. Then you're almost making a "best of" with all of the film.

When it's done this way and I realize who the player is, then I know where to look to find him on the screen, the play is over and it's on to the next clip.

Sure I'm taking this too literal, but we had some GREAT hype videos this year. I mean world class. So rather than complain about the farce, I'm just comparing this to those...it doesn't match up, IMO.

I don't doubt it...that's a lot of shitty HS film to download and review. But if you're going to take on the task...gotta go all in.

I was just being honest. And I think you'd be much better off doing a full page of the player before his highlights or doing some kind of split screen with the film and the player, his picture, bio, etc. on the side or above the video.

We've seen 90% of the clips in most of the highlight videos we see, but they're good because they're matched to a great soundtrack and you can pull some type of emotion in the arrangement of the clips.

I just think it's meh because no one is going to recognize most of the players or clips without you telling them ahead of time - with exception of Gary. Which was a nice touch as the "Joker." But it's not like a I see those high school jerseys and go "oh that's Josh Metellus"

Good feedback. I wanted to map the video to the Suicide Squad trailer, which really didn't leave me with enough time to so something like that. I wanted to do something unique and relevant (new Suicide Squad trailer came out recently). I can see why you'd think it wasn't a fantastic video, but I wanted to experiment creating a trailer-ish video, something I hadn't done before.

I don't know people are so upset. He said MULTIPLE times that it was not a commit, not any insider info, and not a coaching addition. He also said it was exciting "to him," not necessarily others. His initial tweet made it seem like huge news, but he went on to downplay it. Other people were the ones hyping this up.

I'm sure his initial tweet about "breaking the Internet" was partly for clicks, partly for being excited. I think he realized things were getting out of hand and began to downplay it but people just took that tweet and ran with it. He's a good guy who gets solid info. People "RIPing" his career and comparing him to Teddy Blanks are silly. Sorry you hyped yourself up and got unreasonable expectations stuck in your head. In the end this is a non issue IMO.

After the first tweet, the horse was out the barn. Shutting the door wasn't going to bring it back.

Even after the first tweet he wasn't straightforward. You could figure it out if you went through his timeline, but that's pretty much trolling in itself.

Expecting everyone else to read between the lines is childish.

He basically said "this is a hype video" and the blog freaks because its a hype video. I guess the "subscribe to my YouTube page & this is not informative, a commitment, subscribe or about any paysite/insider info" didn't give it away enough.

In his defense. He tweeted out numerous times it was not news. If you followed along, you could pretty much see he was joking about the break the internet thing. Like being sarcastic. Not that anyone on the internet ever misses sarcasm /s. He was pumping up his writers work. Something the guy put a lot of time into. Not his fault some guys took it literally. Especially since he started downplaying and debunking any topic that would have possibly broke the internet in the first place.
