Meyer to replace Tressel? That would be an interesting day on the MGo board
Not from me, from the Orlando Sentinel. I guess somebody needs to get out in front on this speculation.
"Now that Tennessee has fired Bruce Pearl, isn’t it only a matter of time before Jim Tressel resigns at Ohio State and former Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer takes over?
I am convinced of it.
Obviously Meyer wants to decompress, take some time off from coaching and spend some quality time with his family. And he will get a chance to do just that this season while the vultures circle Tressel at Ohio State. With Tennessee firing basketball coach Bruce Pearl on Monday for similar transgressions to Tressel’s, it’s inevitable that Ohio State will eventually pull the plug on Tressel, too.
Let’s face it, Tressel has lost all credibility and could face massive sanctions once the NCAA is done investigating his role in covering up violations by his players. If the NCAA hammer falls and the Buckeyes struggle this year (and you know they will with quarterback Terrelle Pryor and Tressel suspended for the first five games), the pressure will mount and Tressel will ultimately resign."

That's ONE way to get page hits.
I say bring it on. We've actually beaten Meyer recently.

1-0 baby, 1-0.
Baby.
NTM, Utah and UF
Meyer never coached at NTM, and we beat Utah before and after he was there.
and not googling
Eh, who cares? Get 'em next time.
Meyer coached at Bowling Green before Utah. We did not face him at either of those schools.
OSU could be seen as repeat violators.
MOOOHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

That would be good, because the spread won't work in the Big Ten.
Very nice reply. Lock the thread.

This is less than nothing. It's just some jackhole writing stuff that he knows will generate pageviews.

That is all.

I guess it makes sense since he is from Ohio and has family in the Columbus area.
Yeah, even Labron really wants to go back to Ohio.

"schools aren't looking to hire a coach who is going to crash after a few months."
- Not trying to be a Richard.....but this is a pretty ridiculous statement. I think a large majority of schools would line up to hire this guy.
If Urban Meyer sent Dave Brandon an email stating he wanted to coach Michigan this year, Brady Hoke would be fired/bought out in 2.3 seconds.
That's nothing against Hoke, and everything for Urban Meyer's track record.
I don't think so, Tim.
Brandon wouldn't do that unless Brady had a rich rod esque 3 years.
If Urban Meyer explicitly stated he wanted to come to Michigan, that all he was waiting for was the job to open up, you honestly think that Dave Brandon would keep Brady Hoke just because he hasn't coached a game yet?
It's a situation that would never even arise, it's completely absurd and I said it mainly as a joke, but if it did, I would be appalled if DB didn't get rid of Hoke for Urban Meyer. Because anytime you can hire a younger more successful coach who is far more adept to utilize the current team Michigan has, you do it. End of.
Chu crazy maing!
I actually heard Tony Montana's voice in my head when I read your comment...
on whether a famous and successful coach would or would not go the distance? You get a committment for x years, then you get out the fountain pens.

I live in Ohio and since the day Meyers left UF Bucknut fans have said he is taking a few years off and will come back to coach at OSU when Tre$$le retires when he turns 60. Every buckeye fan believes this is true and if you ask them Meyers already has a concract written up and in place.
Not Meyers.
around here its meijers
Any store located within city limts being known as an Urban Meijers.........
Just as an fyi, some older folks refer to it as Meijer's because it was also originally called Meijer's, not Meijer.
...and some older folk still call Ford Motor Company Ford's because they think of it as Henry's little business.
Michiganders are so crazy!
Yeah......and some older folk still call Ford Motor Company Ford's because they think of it as Henry's little business.
Michiganders are so awesome!
Fixed your spelling.

If it won't be Meyer, it'll definitely be Jon Gruden. Because those two guys are the next coach of every team in Amurricah.
Boy, will Dantonio be pissed off.
Taking time off to decompress doesn't always work out so well.
Bring on Meyer, but he will probably resign, then come back, then resign again.
Only if an act of divine intervention tells him he needs a particular, highly coveted recruit.
If I was Urban I would be first in line to sign up for a school that’s is about to get the probation/recruiting restriction. Hell yeah sign me up.
I think OSU needs an JT exit strategy and successor AFTER the shit storm in about 4 years.
Why do people just assume that Meyer is only going to take a year off and then go to another top program? That makes very little sense to me. It's not like that one year off isgoing to make the stress go away forever.
I think if JT steps down/fired, one of the old assistants (J. Heacock) would take the reins during the probation period. I hear chatter about Luke Fickell being the guy their grooming but again whoever replaces JT is going to be a "lame duck" till after there punishment.
I could see Pellini or Dantino but not till after.
How likely do you guys think it is that Tressel will be either fired or resigns after the suspension? I personally could not imagine OSU even pressuring him to step down after all the success hes had there
a feeling that the big school that will have big time allegations come September is actually going to Florida (just a feeling). Meyer heard some rumblings, got scared and left. If that is the case i dont think theres any chance in hell Meyer is in C bus but then again ohio thought they could get away with only giving the vest two games.
Double post
Pointless speculation. This is us last year saying if RR does shitty then we can get Harbaugh this time around aka a pipedream.
I do believe Meyer is done for the short term, you dont just retire from Florida only to take a year off.
What you said just about sums it up. If he comes back to coach I don't think it'll be for at least 3 more years.
