META - SHOOT TruStage INTO THE SUN AND GET CONTROL OF THE SITE BACK PLEASE
Kinda ironic that in a front page post that spends a lot of time complaining about ads the inline ads for TrueStage mortgage completely take over the page and force you to spend five seconds looking at it with no opportunity to close it. This has happened multiple times today to me in multiple threads (happened three times trying to read the UFR) and is beyond frustrating.
Yes I know about ad-blocker but is my only option to stop revenue from flowing into the site? Common Seth, get control of these guys.
PS: Ironically twice while I was trying to create this post I got the TruStage lady completely take over the page. Had to wait the five seconds for her to leave me alone.

I just recently gave in and turned my AdBlock on for the site. I've always been in the "keep it off to allow Brian/team to generate max revenue" camp, but it's become too much recently.

Wow that was easy. Just found TotalAdBlock Plus for free and downloaded in seconds. Came back on here and poof, no ads.

I don't mind the ads but I agree that it is a problem when the ads cover the content with no seeming way to move them out of the way.

You didn’t get a real response last time you brought it this up, did you expect something different this time?
This site is run by sports nerds, not to be confused with programming nerds. I absolutely love the content, but a normal functioning site without mind boggling, function crippling ads is just not something they seem to care enough about to fix.
I can definitely tell you Human Element will not be my first call if I ever need to make a website.

A big part of the problem is that Brian is a behind the times computer nerd who learned crappy Drupal back in the day, and now forces whoever writes the site to use it - even though no self respecting computer professional would ever choose to use it.
It's the forcing Gerg to run the 3-3-5 of the website world.

Human Element has nothing to do with the ads. HuskerMax and I manage the ad network. The ad in question got served through google. Please don't trash our devs on this site. They are incredible. Nobody else could have handled this site, I guarantee you.

It has gotten outrageous. It is super frustrating on desktop to have content literally jumping up and down the screen as ads constantly cycle. I have resorted to an adblocker, which I would rather not, but this has gotten ridiculous.

do what i do - use adblock, and hit the 'beveled guilt' button. they deserve it - both the staff here AND the a-holes who hijack the site.

Yep, this one ad makes the site unusable/unreadable. However, I've not seen this ad for a while now.

My issue with the TruStage ad is the lack of an "X" button, at least that I am able to find. It did not seem to go away after 5 seconds and had to reload the page.

Agree. The site is unusable without an ad blocker on. It’s been said before, I would pay for a no-ad version of this site, and I don’t pay for much otherwise free content online. It should at least be an option. I bet they’d be pleasantly surprised how many subscribers take them up on it.

I pause Adblock for Mgoblog so that the site can get some ad revenue, and I have never had any issue with ads on this site.

I use Brave too, for the most part, but I regret taking money out of MGoHands, because the content is worth it. I can't even donate my Brave coin to the site, because they aren't on it.

I get that internet ads suck and are annoying... But, conflating a free niche website to a literal billion dollar a year business that doesn't directly pay it's athletes, seems a bit much IMHO.

That's a google ad. It got served to you based on your search history and other online activity. I have no control over it. But I have a solution that's in the works if you can give me a few more weeks.
