but the offense has been ugly

Honestly...the offense has been fine and the defense has been fine. We just can't hit any of our great open looks and they can't miss any of their very contested 3s.

Good drive by MAAR!!!!

The annoying thing is most of our offensive possessions seem fine. Couple ugly ones where we don't penetrate the zone, but mostly fine. And even the defense isn't atrocious. Basketball is a dumb game sometimes.

Comparing total rebounds from one team to the other is a fool's errand. Whichever team shoots the best is usually going to win that comparison, because defensive rebounds are going to overwhelm offensive rebounds every time.
By the end of the game, both teams had 7 offensive rebounds, but Michigan had more chances. So the rebounding advantage was slightly in favor of CMU, but the majoirty of the difference in raw numbers just came from CMU shooting better than Michigan.
I was actually impressed by the offensive rebounding today. They got a couple of boards that I don't think last year's team would have gotten. The only real quibble I had was that there were two occasions I can think of where CMU got multiple looks inside of 2 feet, and that's something that Michigan should be able to stop.
It's early in the season, but Wagner, Teske, and Matthews all looked pretty effective at times. Let's see how they progress before giving up on the season. :)

Teske looks a lot more comfortable. Drawn a couple fouls on elbow jumpers, making free throws.

is going to struggle this year; at least for a while. there will be a lot minutes out there where only 2 guys are legit 3 pt shooters. JB going to have to go old school backdoor cutting with lineups like that on the floor.

Teske looks like a completely different guy out there. Dude might be a basketball player now.

Other thing is I feel like the artist formerly known as X may have missed his calling as a mid-major 30 point per game PG.
